Hybrid reverse trike.

Since there isn't a remote compatible with my old Nikon D50 (which took another tumble this trip...requiring another super glue fix), I use a rubber band and some chewed gum to depress the shutter release for these long exposures. I still had to process quite a bit of noise out of this image, but I think it turned out pretty nice for a 20-minute exposure.

I think Air Transat are now the last airline still operating passenger A310's and they are due to leave the fleet by the end of 2020.

Fleet No: "344".

First flown with the Airbus test registration F-WWCN, this aircraft was delivered to Wardair Canada as C-GCWD in Mar-88. Wardair was merged into Canadi>n Airlines International in Oct-89. The aircraft continued in service until it was sold to Polaris Leasing in Aug-91.

It was leased to Kuwait Airways later that month and initially operated from Dubai, UAE due to the first Gulf War. It returned to the lessor at the end of May-93 and was stored at Bremen-Lemwerder (now closed).

Re-registered D-APOL in Aug-93, the aircraft was leased to MEA Middle East Airlines in Sep-93. It was re-registered F-OHLH (French overseas registration) in Jul-95. It returned to the lessor in Feb-01 and was stored at Paris-Le Bourget.

In Jul-01 it was leased to Air India as VT-EVG and returned to the lessor as N447DN in Oct-04. The aircraft was sold to Air Transat as C-GTSY in Nov-04. After 31.5 years in service, it was permanently retired at Montreal-Mirabel in Mar-20.

Note! The registration C-GTSY was previously used on an Air Transat Lockheed L1011 Tristar 1 in Jul-96. It didn't enter service and was used for spares.

RCAF CC-150 15003 in retro Canadian Armed Forces livery takes off from RAF Fairford. It had been on static display at the 2022 Royal International Air Tattoo.

Location: RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire, UK.

On San Pablo Bay at the old Joseph's Resort site in Rodeo, California. I have photos of the Polaris as a working tug, but I'm told there was some sort of dispute over ownership -- and that seems to have ended with the boat being abandoned.

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to wander around Dragon Con and photograph/interview costumed women for Refinery29.

Each year, downtown Atlanta is swarmed by more than 50,000 monsters, princesses, fairies, super heroes, and knights. Dragon Con is an annual convention dedicated to the most serious of the nerdy fan arts — cosplay, or dressing up.

I talked to some of the most decked-out fans. They told me about their costumes, how they connect to their characters, and why they love the Dragon Con community.

Beautiful clear night for the first time in a few days, so I braved the sub-zero temperatures and pointed the camera north to capture the star trails.

The Cotswold Escarpment is at the bottom of the frame, with the peak of Wotton Hill in the centre.

More Fantasy figures! Sorry for the glare... Shiny heads so hard to photograph! :P

Aye, polaris - ye have gripped my heart with steadfast awe. Funny how the stars mean that much more after three months of not seeing them.

my first long shot of the night sky

I am afraid that's all what I get of my camera :(

the northern star "polaris"....every star and planet we see in the northern hemisphere orbits this point....taken with my eos 600d,using the kit lense, 5 minutes exposure at iso 200

A three-wheeled motorcyle made by Polaris Industries in Alabama.

99 minutes worth of exposure time with a tripod mounted D7100 looking North towards Polaris. Taken from Wednesbury, West Midlands, UK.

Headed out on a very cold night to try and capture Polaris rotation. Spent more time cleaning condensation from the lens. Used an Intervalometer to allow greater control. This shot was taken at the edge of a heli - pad next to a local hotel.

So I know it's been a while since I've posted anything. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. It's actually been killing me to not have shot anything for months!

I've been busy trying to put a business together and it's taken all of my time, energy, and money to do so. There were other factors, as well, but we'll just leave it at that :)

This is downtown Jacksonville, again. I shot a similar image back around August or September, but I've now had a chance to experiment with star trail shooting and I've figured out a decent way to get the star trails in with a brightly lit subject. I have another image I shot the same night, and I'll be putting that one together shortly.

While I was photographing the early morning planets last week, I spotted some boulders on the north end of the parking lot in Hickory Run State Park (Pennsylvania). I thought I would try out my handy laser pointer to try and point out the North Star, Polaris. The image below is what I ended up with.

For those that know me, dexterity is not my strong point. Standing on this rock for 15-seconds, in the dark, was an Olympic achievement.

This is a single 15-second exposure and about 5-seconds of laser light using a Canon 6D and Canon EF17-40mm f/4L USM lens, tripod mounted.
