These shots were taken at Bay Area Park and there was not canoe required. This Green Heron was very focused on fishing and did mind my slow approach and my presence as he went about his business near the pier in the park. I know it’s another Green Heron shot, so I guess I’m going to get me a bumper sticker that says that I stop everything for Green Herons…except for photography.

Stagecoach Hants & Surrey 33308 (AE51 VJD) makes the turn out of Glaziers Lane into Guildford Road in Normandy, while on a 520 to Guildford.

It was literally followed off to Guildford by the 547 coming from the opposite junction.

Flexford waits ages for a limited service, then two come within five minutes - only on Tuesdays and Fridays though, until the 547 got withdrawn the week after this!

This was rather a surprise, as I wasn't aware Stagecoach's Aldershot depot had had a Super Pointer Dart turn up - it turned out that it was a loan to cover for Goldline repaints.

I was walking to the 'Heron Hide' at Paxton Pits when I saw this Pointer laying calmly on the track ahead. It was waiting for its master to finish bird wtching! It never moved, just waited patiently.

That's pine pollen on her lips and inside her nose. Tough times for a pointer that basically lives through the nose.

Stagecoach West Alexander Dennis ADL Pointer PX04HTV 34618 working route 51A Swindon bus station to The Forum Cirencester then Bowling Green Road Stratton

A Mono conversion from my shoot with Rob King on Sunday.

This route was recently retained with its Enviro200s and their nice comfy seats. A few of these Pointer bodied Darts still appear, but their days must be numbered now.

I think these look quite good in Stagecoach guise

Routes 40 and 50 replaced service G4 on 6th September 2014.

The G4 ran 24/7 between the Russ Hill Hotel, Gatwick and the Europa Hotel. The 40/50 are commercial, running for less of the day (and also serving all stops on route and diverting to serve Three Bridges Tesco).

However, the 40/50 are being withdrawn due to insufficient patronage, with the last day due to be 3rd June 2015.

My assumption therefore is that the G4 used to have some sort of funding (probably by the hotels?), and that this was withdrawn, so Southdown PSV tried to offer a commercial replacement with the 40/50, but that it hasn't worked out.

Although it's the same route both ways, southbound services are numbered 40 and northbound 50.

Southbound at Gatwick South Terminal is 117 (F3 LGW), with Metrobus 6006 (BN14 CUO) hot on its heels.

In order to raise funds for the upkeep of the collection, the Padbus Preservation Partnership has started commercial operation under the PPP Transport Solutions name, and these two Darts are used on a school contract. N518/9 RUD are of course ex-Padbus and are EFE models repainted in the familiar green and yellow livery. 518 spent its whole life with the main Padbus fleet but 519 was transferred to the Grey Green subsidiary in Winchcombe for its last few months before both were withdrawn in 2010 and sold to me.

The Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Darts are not included in the big FirstBus sale of Wigan depot operations to Stagecoach and their future is a little uncertain. 40392 from December 1997 heads into Leigh on the 598 service in what is it's last week in service as a Wigan depot vehicle. Whether these buses are to be redeployed somewhere within First or if Barnsley beckons is anyones guess.

Because of the car show, all buses had to use Millennium Way instead of the High Street to get to the bus station.

When I saw this shot, I had to laugh so hard that I almost fell of my chair.

Where there's water, there's fun!

Least bittern session on Horsepen Bayou. Normally you have to ease up to them slowly and patiently but this bird flew right to where I was trying to annoy a green heron and proceeded to preen and pose for a good five minutes.

English pointer - these dogs breed very true to type. I have many English Pointers in my rescue - the breed is little changed since the 1700's although there are various sub-types. Very nice dogs for pets as well as for hunting.
