This seed pod made it all the way from Santa Barbara to Scotland. Amazing shape and structure. Macro made from 16 images.
Eixirem a fer l'eixida de sol, però estava massa ennuvolat el dia. Aquesta llum roja que va inundar el paisatge durà només un moment, però la vam poder captar.
We wanted to take a sunrise picture but it was too cloudy. Only for a moment a red light bathed the scenery. It took very little time but we were prepared and could fix it on our camera sensors.
Es la luz natural. Duró solo un momento pero como estábamos preparados para la salida del sol (un sol que no se dejó ver) pudimos captarla.
This pod was one of the first to form on our tree this year. Most of the time it looked like the immature pod in the preceding shot.

Aquilegia (common names: granny's bonnet or columbine) is a genus of about 60-70 species of perennial plants that are found in meadows, woodlands, and at higher altitudes throughout the Northern Hemisphere, known for the spurred petals of their flowers. The genus name Aquilegia is derived from the Latin word for eagle (aquila), because the shape of the flower petals, which are said to resemble an eagle's claw. The common name "columbine" comes from the Latin for "dove", due to the resemblance of the inverted flower to five doves clustered together. The Colorado Blue Columbine (A. caerulea) is the official state flower of Colorado. Large numbers of hybrids are available for the garden, since the European A. vulgaris was hybridized with other European and North American varieties. Aquilegia species are very interfertile, and will self-sow. Some varieties are short-lived so are better treated as biennials.
Preparing to take off from Phoenix and back to Los Angeles, but found this group of trees behind my trailer. They have these clumps of what I believe are seed pods. I squeezed one and they're fairly hard, thought of biting one, but hell, they may be poisonous. 111 degrees fahrenheit right now, LA's not sounding so bad. Maybe some place with mountains after that.

I'm always amazed at the beautiful detail nature can provide in common things if you take the time to look closely.

Nespresso pods. I love coffee, always will. I know that it's something like creazy to shoot things like this, but for me, this objects are just perfect looking, like all the Nespresso stuff by the way. Strobe : 1 * 1/4 top through small softbox triggered by cactus V5, white reflectors front left and right.

These beautiful seedpods of the Sacred Lotus are one of my favourite things to photograph at the Calgary Zoo. The tropical flowering shrub in the background created a bit of bokeh to add colour to the image. Macro photo taken in the ENMAX Conservatory on 9 AUgust 2012.
"The pods/seed heads contain the Lotus seeds within little circular chambers on the flat surface of the top of the pod. These circles appeared to cradle the seeds, which are round, within the pod until fully ripe. Both the chamber of each seed and the seed itself got larger and larger until the pod bent over to finally release the seeds into the water."
Another experiment with Mecabricks' rendering service. I used a night sky HDR lighting, as this seemed to be the most similar to the sort of background that I had in mind. Edited in Adobe PhotoShop Elements 6.0 that I bought years ago.
