Annick definitely was feeling like "Pocket" today and had fun playing dress up! Still no hair treatment, but more gentle brushing and lots of body and wave!
Julie, thank you so much for making this lovely Creation...it's perfection of Pocket.

A small pocket of light illuminates stopped westbound coal empties. The empties paused briefly to pick up locomotives from the local elevator, and the conductor is busy putting the train back together.

"White Pocket" is a distinctive rock formation in the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona USA.
Well worth the drive through sand and rocks!
This is in the "Arizona Strip", a section of Arizona north of the Colorado River (Grand Canyon) only accessible by crossing the Navajo Bridge north of Flagstaff or going through Nevada and/or Utah.
Early frost on a sunny October morning, Newnham, Kent, in the last week of British Summer Time.
Orchards in the valleys have long-since been grubbed up in favour of human settlements, pheasants and trees for wood & fences (and roads). The apple and cherry orchards, first planted on an edict from King Henry VIII, are on the higher slopes, though they are no longer full of big tall old trees lightly hung with fruit. Now they are yield-rich, young, densely-planted in close straight lines with fruit within reach. And they have mostly been picked already, their fruit in cold-store, before the first frosts creep up the sides of the chalky downland valley. So far, though, frosts have not climbed far above the valley bottoms and are soon gone in the morning sunlight.
On the remote Paria Plateau in Arizona's Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, White Pocket is a group of swirling, multicolored formations of Navajo sandstone, including domes, hoodoos, gullies and potholes. Arriving at White Pocket inside Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, you are initially struck by the contrast of white rock in smoothly rounded mounds and cliff edges, dotted with two imperial looking spherical beehives rock cones

For this week's Macro Mondays 'Cogwheel' theme - the back of my old pocketwatch. The watch (also known as a turnip for some reason) opens on both the front and the rear (shown).
This is a focus stack of 8 images processed in Helicon Focus (Option C). Dust and speck removal in Photoshop. Conversion to mono in Silver Efex Pro. Cropping, local and global adjustments in Lightroom. HMM!
We're working on a magazine article on White Pocket, so I'm finally getting around to editing more of my images. I'll give you two shots for your Friday - both were taken on the same day. I don't recall it ever raining, but the sky was sure moody and we got some great light breaking through from time to time.
I made the girls a rain coat today and Angel wanted to try it out so off outdoors she went. Why flickr has chosen to upload it this way is beyond me but there you go!

As you can probably tell, I go to White Pocket quite a bit and it's one of my favorite places to take clients. A few days ago I was there with some fellow photographers and we had some nice evening light. The textures, swirls, and patterns of White Pocket are always so interesting. I would love to see a time-lapse video of how this place was formed!

Waterfall at Bucks Pocket State Park. This park was a great place to camp until it has been let to run down and is not supported as it should be.
Not sure if this is a 'silver studded' or 'common blue' But whichever it was it liked my pocket as landed there a few times. HWW (Taken in Dorset)

Given Empire was our main target I timed the aerial assault so CN would be loading. Well, on our first pass the second half of the empty train was there but no power. As we moved on to Eagle Mills I saw the light power going under a haul road just north of Empire so it was easy pickings on our return attempt. Here the train (U741) loads at Empire's Super Pocket (the original unused loading pockets are off to the right)

This chain was on the bocket watch in the previous pictures. I think it was original to the watch, but I have no way of verifying this.
It looks like the focus was on the material (wool) under the chain instead of the chain itself.
The last rays of sunlight kiss the rock formations at White Pocket in Arizona.
Kevin,Gigi and I have returned home after 10 days, 2,700 miles of driving and about 20 miles of hiking from Southern Utah and Northern Arizona a few days ago
This day started out as a cloudless but about 2 PM the clouds moved in a we were treated with a nice afternoon and sunset. Then it was a 2 hour very ruff and bumpy ride on dirt roads back to our camp
