K is for Key

They're always last to be found when I'm looking for them, even if I have put them on a cuddly zebra keychain, so the times I need to clear out everything in my bag to get them are countless (and yes, I know, if I'd only put them in a fixed pocket I'd never lose them ...)

Used the steel bar gradient filter to get some texture, like the way it emphasises the leather !

We planted 2 trees and several new bushes in our yard this past summer...this is my favorite!

I absolutely love exploring along this creek, which has fascinated me since I was young. I've always loved water. I love to look at it, be around it and swim/wade in it. I've never swam in this particular creek though. I usually stick to pools.

The view has changed some in the name of progress. Some of the trees across the water have been cleared away for a new business moving into town. I do not know what that business is yet. They are still doing dirt work.

Since it was a 'brown dirt 'sort of day, I also decided to process some of the photos in black and white, using the various contrast modes that Adobe Photoshop Elements offers.

a few weeks ago when i was on Maui at the hotel..in the evening there was an"amateur" "luau show" these folks are not professionals and the show was one of the best I have ever seen..Unfortunately I didn't want to lug my full size camera to the dinner and took these using a poorly adjusted settings pocket camera.. I have a few others and I may put them here..(?) The headdresses are reminiscent of the "bird of paradise"

Can you tell without looking at the date that this photo was taken just a few days before Christmas? The parking lot of the local Kroger was jam packed! I was took this photo for the clouds. I'm glad I'm not in there trying to shop at that moment.

Moments after I took this shot, I heard sounds of tornado sirens going off behind me, I took multiple photos of this tornado producing storm pass by the baseball game tonight. I have seen other photos of funnel clouds from around the area, but I didn't see one. It was apparently over there somewhere though! The baseball game was delayed but eventually played.

Remember mailing off film to be developed? No? Well, you'd take an envelope..mail it off to a color lab (Connecticut later had Mystic Labs)...but growing up, I was forced to learn the concept of patience waiting for these manilla envelopes with the chubby blonde mocking me. My parents would always let me shoot five or six photos at the end of a roll, and I'd ask every day "did they come did they come?". I still think the postcard printing on the back is a brilliant, underused idea!

It was a blah kind of day, but I still wanted to explore along the creek and see if I could find some late winter photographic treasures, as the sky was creating a nice bluish-green cast on the surface of the water. That made the water really stand out among the shades of brown surrounding it. It was a little breezy, so there weren't any reflections being made on the rippled surface.

Since it was a drab sort of day, I also decided to process some of the photos in black and white, using the various contrast modes that Adobe Photoshop Elements offers.

In 2012, I caught my first glimpse of Pilot Mountain in North Carolina on the way to Myrtle Beach. It had been years since I had gone to the beach and we did not go by Pilot Mountain on the previous route. New roads have been added, which now lead us past Pilot Mountain.

Since this was the first time I had seen the mountain, I took lots of photos, including a stop at the scenic overlook. I still have to take at least one picture when I go by. I've been to Myrtle Beach two more times since 2012 - once in 2014 and once in 2015.

When I bought the camera, the gentleman selling it to me indicated that he couldn't show me that the shutter worked smoothly without putting a roll of film into it. There were a few misfires while he was demonstrating it to me so I only got a few shots from the first roll myself. However, I finished the second roll today and look forward to seeing more new results.

And I kind of got a kick out of this crazy shot.

Only prototypes, for Gods sake. Shown at Peter Coelns Leica Museum in Vienna.
