The hunting season has begun in Beauce/Appalaches. We have a lot of mooses but also some poachers...in fact some of our hunters cross the american border to takes mooses in the North Maine Woods. If they get caught, it is 5000$ fine for crossing illegaly the american border. It is not worth it. I don't understand them.
By end of August 2015, 749 had been poached in South Africa with a projected 1219 by the end of the year, which is a few less compared to 2014.
However, Minister Molewa of Environmental Affairs has decided in his untracebale wisdom, not the publish regular stats anymore, because he is not legally obliged to do so! Can you believe it. Maybe its rather not to be confronted to often by the failure to combat poaching. See www.stoprhinopoaching.com/statistics.aspx

The wildlife documentary which my friend is one of the main characters is now out on itunes and i also appear in this.
Poached exposes an obsession that can wipe out a species of birds...illegal egg collecting.
Filmed in the Uk and parts of St.Helens with Timothy Wheeler a Los Angeles-based director, producer, and EMMY-nominated cinematographer who filmed Whale Wars for Discovery Channel with Aaron Goldberg, Co-Producer the film won top prize at the International Wildlife Film Festival and Matsula Nature Film Festival and is now up for an Oscar.
John is 45 years old, born and bred in St.Helens and used to collect eggs to the age of 19 an activity many men from St.Helens will relate to as it would be likely they also participated in the past. However,John is now a conservationist and an excellent wildlife photographer and soon to be an author of a book due out soon, which I'm sure will become a best seller in the bird world.Furthermore,he features on film educating his young son Andrew then aged 6-now 7,as they travel around Scotland were John is teaching and guiding him...I'm certain he will have a budding career also because of his father.
There are also some other interesting topics covered by John in this documentary film, which include an antique egg collection of over 6,000 eggs that was given to him during 2013 by an Antique dealer a friend of his, which John speaks about and the laws surrounding them and the hastle such a collection could of caused him, even though he never took eggs himself since 1989.These eggs were given over by John voluntarily to the police as part of the documentary film, and he is now in the process of assisting the Police with rehousing this dated and substantial piece of British heritage in Tring Natural History Museum in Herefordshire were he believes it belongs in order for scientists and future generations learn more.
This is only a brief outline of his work.I have known him since i were 5 (1975) and knew he had great prospects and now his son for conservation education.
Also included in the film are some photographic images that i took of the Egg Collection at his home before removal by the Police and also him assisting the film crew.
Unfortunately i do appear in this film but i cant say nothing due to being under a disclaimer but what i can say is that in the trailer of the eggs taken from the nest are dummy's,it's a reconstruction.
Do not judge John merely by the trailer as there's so much to this story.
It has been shown over America in small cinemas and now on its way to Europe and the Uk.It will be available on Dvd in March so im told plus it may end up on one of the discovery channels or bbc,not too sure yet but it will be confirmed at a later date

During the day it is predominantly occupied by orange juice stalls, water sellers with traditional leather water-bags and brass cups, youths with chained Barbary apes and snake charmers despite the protected status of these species under Moroccan law.
As the day progresses, the entertainment on offer changes: the snake charmers depart, and late in the day the square becomes more crowded, with Chleuh dancing-boys (it would be against custom for girls to provide such entertainment), story-tellers (telling their tales in Berber or Arabic, to an audience of locals), magicians, and peddlers of traditional medicines. As darkness falls, the square fills with dozens of food-stalls as the number of people on the square peaks
