i've visited curry's electricals. of the three possible freestanding electric cookers non were in stock and no delivery date could be given. with the way things are the cooker remains on hold for the forseeable future. let's just say it's the least of any of the current problems. it's almost rude on my part to even think of it as a problem more something to look forward to ...

The African forest elephant is one of the two living African elephant species. During the 20th century, overhunting caused a sharp decline in population, and by 2013 it was estimated that less than 30,000 individuals remained. It is threatened by habitat loss, fragmentation, and poaching. Since 2021, the species has been listed as Critically Endangered
The Poached Egg plant attracts hoverflies to the garden to beat the aphids. Bees also love this low, spreading carpet of fragrant golden and white blooms that are said to resemble poached or fried eggs. It's a hardy annual that readily sef-seeds in my garden.
Each bloom is no more than 2cm across and there are loads of them!

A quick snap of the dessert I made to take to my Mum's on Christmas Day, just before we all had a slice!
Pears poached in vanilla syrup on a classic pavlova base, filled with whipped goat's milk double cream.

The wind was pretty wicked on the water today and it was overcast all day, but I just had a feeling it was going to be great out here near the water. So I grabbed the camera, my black card and filters, and headed to the point to see how it was. There were white caps and the 4 stop ND filter was doing what it needed to do. I had about 13-30 seconds of exposure time to play with. Plenty to paint my scene the way I wanted to.

The greater kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) is a woodland antelope found throughout eastern and southern Africa. Despite occupying such widespread territory, they are sparsely populated in most areas, due to a declining habitat, deforestation and poaching.
Their habitat includes mixed scrub woodlands (the greater kudu is one of the few largest mammals that prefer living in settled areas – in scrub woodland and bush on abandoned fields and degraded pastures, mopane bush and acacia in lowlands, hills and mountains.
Their diet consists of leaves, grass, shoots and occasionally tubers, roots and fruit (they are especially fond of oranges and tangerines).
During the day, greater kudus normally cease to be active and instead seek cover under woodland, especially during hot days. They feed and drink in the early morning and late afternoon, acquiring water from waterholes or roots and bulbs that have a high water content. Although they tend to stay in one area, the greater kudu may search over a large distance for water in times of drought.
Predators of the greater kudu generally consist of lions, hyenas, and hunting dogs. Although leopards and cheetahs also prey on greater kudus, they are unable to bring down a bull, and consequently target the more vulnerable cows and offspring.
Greater kudus have a life span of 7 to 8 years in the wild, and up to 23 years in captivity. They are evaluated as low risk in the IUCN Red List of endangered species.
