Film d'essai (test film) of my ASAHI PENTAX Spotmatic SP (year 1971) with an Ilford FP4+ film and its normal lens Asahi Opt. Co. Super-Takumar 1:1.8 f=55 mm (M42 mount)

The Ilford FP4+ 24-poses film was exposed for 125 ISO and developed using Tetenal UltraFin T-Plus at dilution 1+6 for 7min30 min at 23°C. The film was exposed following the readings of the Spotmatic camera or a Minolta Autometer III fitted with a 10° finder privileging the shadow zones.

After process the film was digitalized using a Sony A7 body and a Minolta Slide Duplicator with a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5.

About the camera :

This Asahi Optical Company (originally (旭光学工業株式会社, Asahi Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushiki-Gaisha) SLR was sold to its first owner on December 11, 1971.

The ASAHI PENTAX Spomatic SP was produced in Japan from 1964 to 1971. This exemplary was sold to me on July 25, 2022 after complete servicing of the camera with the beautifully conserved user manual, the original international warranty card, and a booklet describing the ASAHI PENTAX system.

The camera is equipped with its original normal lens Asahi Opt. Co. Super-Takumar 1:1.8 f=55 (M42 mount), a ASAHI PENTAX Skylight 49 mm filter, the original shade hood in a small leather case, the neck leather strap and the body half ever-ready case only. The two CdS photoresistors are still operated by a functionnal circuitry that is not sensitive by conception to the voltage difference between the original mercury (1.35V) and nowadays available silver-oxyde (1.55 V) batteries. This simple circuitry operates only with the closed diaphragm and gives matching values to a silicon Minolta Autometer III lightmeter.

Haven't been able to resist the Kulinara range by Rorstrand. Looks so good next to my vintage Gustavsberg dishes.

Am not entirely sure if this is Sirloin or Top Sirloin steak from Meat Plus. All I'm sure is it was cooked medium rare as always!

in attempt to keep me focused and positive during a extremely difficult time, my oldest son grabbed my hand and etched a plus sign (more like an X, but whatever) on it as a reminder to stay positive...

Part of a batch I’ve posted before, but seem to have gone missing when I managed to accidentally let Aperture delete a load of photos from Flickr.

When the weather isn't great, I'll sometimes use Calgary's excellent raised walkway system (AKA Plus 15 System) as a workout replacement for walking in one of the parks. Although I didn't measure this with a GPS, the route I walked today was about 8 km's. I park in Chinatown, as there is free parking on the streets there, until 9 a.m. The images portray only a fragment of this system, and there are many other interesting buildings and sights.

Calgary has about 18 kilometers and counting of these raised walkways with 63 bridges (more being added yearly with new construction). This makes Calgary’s plus 15 system the largest of its kind in the world according to the City of Calgary.
