2021 muss mit einem Luchsbild starten.. dieses Jungtier hier spielte ausgiebig mit Mama.. in einem Augenblick schaute es mich kurz neugierig an, um dann direkt wieder weiterzuspielen.. Das Spotlight auf dem Auge tat sein übriges :)

Custer State Park is home to nearly 1,500 bison, one of the largest herds in the country. Seeing them roam the rolling prairies feels like stepping back in time to the untamed American West.
Thoroughbred foals, once weaned, are separated from their mothers and placed in large enclosures, different pens for males and females.
There they begin their relationship life with the other foals, forming a real herd.
In this way they live their youth in a playful and "wild" way, before being tamed and launched into their sporting profession.
Now is the best time to observe and photograph them and there is one thing I immediately noticed, their desire for contact with other foals.
They painfully lost contact with their mothers and now they look for the attention and affection received from the mothers in the other elements of the herd. All this I learned in a few minutes by observing them, and in particular these two foals, absolutely spectacular in terms of expressiveness in their relationship.
Here and in the previous photo, the foal on the right fills his friend with attention, trying to arouse a similar attitude in him. The answer of the other is peremptory and already explains the hierarchy within this friendship.

Puledri giocosi
I puledri purosangue una volta svezzati sono separati dalle madri e messi in ampi recinti divisi per sesso. Li cominciano la loro vita di relazione con gli altri puledri, formando un branco vero e proprio.
Vivono così in maniera giocosa e "selvaggia" la loro gioventù, prima di essere domati ed avviati alla loro professione sportiva.
Ora è il momento migliore per osservarli e fotografarli e c'è una cosa che ho subito notato, la loro voglia di contatto con gli altri puledri.
Hanno perso con dolore il contatto dalle madri ed ora cercano negli altri elementi del branco, quella attenzione ed affetto, ricevuta dalle mamme. Tutto ciò l'ho imparato in pochi minuti osservando il branco, ed in particolare questi due puledri, assolutamente spettacolari quanto ad espressività nel loro relazionarsi, emozionante in certi frangenti.
Qui e nella precedente foto, il puledro di destra riempie di attenzioni il suo simile, cercando di destare in lui analogo atteggiamento. La risposta dell'altro è perentoria e già spiega la gerarchia all'interno di questa amicizia.

We occassionally see three or four of these birds chasing through the river gums.
Their speed through the forest is quiet impressive.
A young pine marten takes notice of me and stays partially hidden behind the branches of a pine tree almost as if playing hide and seek.
