Out taking photos this gorgeous dog kept running towards me, dropping its toy then picking it up and running about again. Seemed such a happy dog it was fun watching.
I found a puppy! It's not mine, but I had to take pictures when my sister brought over a puppy she was watching for someone recently.
Spring brown bear cubs are the cutest things to photograph, as they follow in their momma's footsteps in their daily activities. Whether they're on the go on the shore of the rivers and creeks, or they're trying to mimic catching salmon, or climbing small trees, you can just see their young minds trying to figure it all out. Though those are all entertaining, it's most fun to watch them as they frolic about through the tall grasses and brush and ultimately begin to play with each other. It is then that individual personalities really begin to show. LOL.
Of all of the cubs that we encountered in Katmai, these two were quite animated with each other and gave us lots of photographic opportunities.
As we near the end of 2015, I want to thank everyone for all of their support during the year. As 2016 begins, I will be able to spend more time on flickr, etc, and catching up with many of your photo streams again. :-)

Memories of 2024 - Bella creates new memories every day. She loves to play - in her tunnels, under her arch, or chasing balls. She plays alone sometimes, usually to get my attention, but is happier when I join in the game.
Happy Caturday
This baby girl belongs to the Bitukura gorilla family, residents of the Ruhija section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
In their natural state, gorillas are the calmest and most peaceful animals I have ever seen.

Europe - Czech Republic - Czechia - Jižní Morava - South Moravia - Moravské Toskánsko - Moravian Tuscany - Soft rolling, bright green hills during spring time - Slavná Moravská pole behem jara - Ikonická Kaplička sv. Barbory - Iconic Santa Barbara chapel
I wanted to return to these now iconic Moravian rolling fields for some time. The timing is very important and it was perfect this year. Amazing weather, wonderfully fresh bright spring green fields and many trees in bloom (not these ones). However I could not express how big my surprise was to find endless crowds of photographers from so many different countries in the middle of those fields. Complete shock to see the power of internet in this previously unknown and unheard location. Luckily you have to shoot with very big zoom lens 95% of the time, so you don't have to capture, and therefore avoid, the crowd you are forced to be part of. Timing is extremely important here, as the landscape that is pure magic of playful light and shadow game about 30 mins after sunrise or before sunset for about an hour, turns completely flat after that.
These little chapels are dotted all around the landscape. The history tells us that they were built so the farm workers could worship during the long working days.

Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus) have a very high mortality rate according to a research done in the Serengeti. In a 1994 study, nearly 77% of litters died before eight weeks of birth, and nearly 83% of those alive could not make it to adolescence (14 weeks). Lions emerged as the major predator of juveniles, accounting for nearly 78% of the deaths. The study concluded that the survival rate of cubs till weaning was a mere 4.8%. This was attributed to the open terrain of the region, which does not allow cheetahs to conceal themselves. Cheetah cubs face higher mortality than most other large mammals.
These beautiful cheetah cubs were busy playing with each other whilst mother was resting close by. Photographed during a photography safari on an early morning game drive in the Ndutu Plains of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania.
