Urban Nottingham - a series of photographs showing Nottingham station from various viewpoints
So on this particular day, all the London trains had been suspended - trouble on the line near Kettering. All these London bound passengers had been told to go to Platform 1 to catch the Norwich train as far as Grantham, and then head down the East Coast to King's Cross. However, they were then told to head for the bay Platform 2 and catch a two coach Skegness train to Grantham instead. Chaos ensued!
I spent two years as a commuter on the Lincoln – Nottingham line. The railway opened in 1846 and was the first line into Lincoln, running into St Mark’s station.
Although the modern railway seems somewhat soulless, I have tried to capture some pleasing moments from my many months of commuting.
You can see a random selection of my railway photos here on Flickriver: www.flickriver.com/photos/themightyhood/random/
Innovation platforms are widely used in agricultural research to connect different stakeholders to achieve common goals. To help document recent experiences and insights, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) recently published a series of short innovation platform ‘practice briefs’ to help guide the design and implementation of innovation platforms in agricultural research for development. Hindi versions were published in 2015 and are avalable from cgspace.cgiar.org/handle/10568/33667/recent-submissions
The historic Uptown Theatre (1925) sits at a busy corner awaiting restoration to its former grandeur. Having toured this theatre's interior, I can only describe its beautiful adornment as breath-taking. Restoration estimates have topped $50M dollars. Performers have included everyone from Count Basie to Prince to Elvis Costello. Its seating capacity is 4381, and it's said to have the largest interior volume of any movie house in the US. It occupies 46K sq. feet of land.
Tripod platform in progress for the Landcruiser. It'll be finished on Saturday just in time for the photo retreat in Death Valley.
Got my Heated Build Platform parts from Ponoko today!
Things to fix in the next version:
- Bottom build platform magnet & bolt holes are in the wrong place.
- Need 0.4mm bumps instead of 0.1mm for better friction fit of perpendicular parts.
- Delrin was too thick for 3*2mm layers; was probably 0.1"=2.54mm thick. May simplify to two layers & fill gap anyway.
Toy wish list: vinyl cutter like CraftRobo for paper prototyping and thermochromic sheet cutting.
The Cisco Eos social entertainment platform will power many new Warner Music Group web sites, including the new Paramore site

This is one of those pictures that looked great on the back of the camera, but not so great on a big screen at home. The reflections of the platform in the windows don't really pop on the big screen, but I still sort of like it.
Looking up at the high limestone cliffs which surround the shipwreck beach. One can see the steel viewing platform, where this and so many other pictures were taken.
Waiting platform uses yellow studded plates as a warning strip. Passengers going to the outer track wait on the main platform and cross on the yellow "ford" (which is wheelchair accessible) - after their train arrives - to the yellow "island" where they can board.

The library is experimenting with new gigabit applications and developing use cases for a long distance collaboration platform called LoLa. LoLa stands for Low Latency, as in almost zero lag betweens locations. Performers feel as if they are standing 20 feet apart, despite the hundreds of miles between them during the performance.
As a part of Chattanooga Start Up Week, The Chattanooga Public Library hosted the global musical leaders with the 2016 OneBeat Fellowship, the world’s foremost music diplomacy program, and the Miami-based Fellows of the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy. Using ultra high speed connectivity of Internet 2 and the low latency LoLa software inside the library, the long distance live collaborative music event was one of a kind featuring young gifted musicians from all over the world in both locations over 700 miles apart.

Mobile phones are a popular and useful way of communication nowadays. It is because you can have a voice and data communication anytime and anywhere. But to keep this service intact, mobile recharge has to be done from time to time.
These babies are called Platform Rocker Springs. When you attach these to your furniture, you will have much more manoeuvrability than you would with a stationary chair.
Food is the incentive. They are up to their eyeballs in it. Headgate automatically locks them in when they put their heads down so I don't have to fiddle with that anymore. Also has a gang release I can open all the stalls at one time. Goats just have to learn that they have to lift their heads up rather than pull straight out (won't work, pop their little heads off).
