The reason why I'm currently in the Corpus Christi area - working on a couple of offshore platforms that are to be shipped off to Brazil in September. Cameras aren't allowed on site, and I feel uncomfortable taking my camera on the property, so this photo was taken from the main road - across the turning basin.

Should you eat this stuff or not? Two schools of thought:- 1) Not on any any account; probably prepared in less than ideal conditions, etc etc. 2) Provided it is piping hot and freshly prepared, no problem - probably safer than some hotel food. My advice - Doesn't matter whether you eat it or not, you're going to get the runs anyway! We didn't eat it - and got the runs - but it certainly smelled good. Southern Airways Flight 932 was a chartered Southern Airways Douglas DC-9 domestic United States commercial jet flight from Stallings Field in Kinston, North Carolina, to Huntington Tri-State Airport/Milton J. Ferguson Field near Kenova and Ceredo, West Virginia. At 7:36 pm on November 14, 1970, the aircraft crashed into a hill just short of the Tri-State Airport, killing all 75 people on board in what has been recognized as "the worst sports-related air tragedy in U.S. history".
The plane was carrying 37 members of the Marshall University Thundering Herd football team, eight members of the coaching staff, 25 boosters, and two pilots, two flight attendants, and a charter coordinator. The team was returning home after a 17–14 loss to the East Carolina Pirates at Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina.
At the time, Marshall's athletic teams rarely traveled by plane, since most away games were within easy driving distance of the campus. The team originally planned to cancel the flight, but changed plans and chartered the Southern Airways DC-9. The accident is the deadliest tragedy to have affected any sports team in U.S. history.
The names of all those lost in the crash are forever remembered on the memorial.
Train time for the Illinois Zephyr at La Grange Rd, and it looks like they have quite a crowd today, which strikes me as being usual for a Sunday. This train is heated the old fashioned way; steam!

Raleigh FD's new aerial platforms arrived at the shop on 5-11-09, Monday morning. Both new ladders are 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 1500/400/100'. One to go to L20 and one to L22. Things to fix in the next version:
- Bottom build platform magnet & bolt holes are in the wrong place.
- Need 0.4mm bumps instead of 0.1mm for better friction fit of perpendicular parts.
- Delrin was too thick for 3*2mm layers; was probably 0.1"=2.54mm thick. May simplify to two layers & fill gap anyway.
Toy wish list: vinyl cutter like CraftRobo for paper prototyping and thermochromic sheet cutting.
Tripod platform in progress for the Landcruiser. It'll be finished on Saturday just in time for the photo retreat in Death Valley.
The College Park Metro platform is outdoors. The center part is covered, but the ends are exposed. On this stormy morning, snow was accumulating on the platform. College Park, MD.
