As we sailed from Southampton to Norway, we passed several oil drilling platforms at a distance in the North Sea. However, it is most unusual to see one up close in port undergoing repairs. Repairs are most often done on site at sea. I can only surmise that this would be a major retrofit that required extensive materials and machinery not available at sea.

Exploring the former streetcar / subway station at West Superior Avenue and West Huron Road in Cleveland, Ohio...
In Cleveland, Ohio sits an abandoned Subway tunnel that is only open to the public once a year. These photos were taken on the August 19th, 2017 tours of the tunnel and underdeck of the Detroit-Superior Bridge. The short stretch of subway (carrying streetcars) opened on Christmas Day in 1917 and was supposed to serve as a model for a Cleveland-wide Subway system. As streetcars were phased out, the line fell into disuse and service was discontinued on January 24, 1954. So, the last trains that went through these tunnels were over 63 years ago...
The subway line did lead to some rapid-transit train lines being built (RTA), which has one full metro line and a couple light-rail lines. Part of the current metro line is underground near Tower City and again near the Airport. The RTA has survived, though streetcar and commuter trains are long gone in the Cleveland Area.

2021.01.09 - The platform entrance to the Radisson Metro station.. all quiet during the Covid pandemic. I haven't taken the subway since February last year.
some road/rail platform vehicles at Northampton station yard...I'm pretty sure Health & Safety regs require such plant to be left folded when not in use as indeed the middle one is....May 1 2016.
Someone just reminded me of Platform ¾ at Kings Cross where Barry Trotter and his pals caught the Faghags express..........I can't remember seeing it for ages now, and I'm there almost everyday! here's my sprogs at this famous location!
