A feature of Redhill was the sharing of the up platforms by different trains. Here, a London-bound electric departs, while a Tonbridge line diesel awaits its path.

Seats are painted in a representation of the typical blue leatherette finish used by Accrington - mainly because I don't particularly like the tartan style finish of the decals!

Had several problems with the rails and you can see the slight bend in the main handrail - now too delicate to risk another straightening attempt.

4 May 2016. "Shadwell Basin Looking West", by Sarah McMenemy. Panels on the platforms of Shadwell Station, London Overground.

Sarah McMenemy is one of the artists commissioned by London Underground to create permanent panels to line the platforms on the former East London Line. (Now part of London Overground.) .

The water shown in the illustration is not the River Thames but - adjacent to it - Shadwell Basin. Two "photosphere" 360 degree panoramas show what it looked like in May 2014.

by Happening London and by Krzysztof Jurek.

The basin has an Outdoor Activity Centre and I guess the sailing boats may have been theirs.

The southern boundary of Shadwell is the north bank of the River Thames. Much of it's history is bound-up with the river, with the former London Docks, and seatrade. Some examples:

St Paul's Church Shadwell is also known as the church of the sea captains as seventy-five captains are buried in the churchyard.

The name Shadwell probably comes from an Anglo Saxon word for shallow creek or bay. (Read more with the Wikipedia link listed below.)

Archaeological remains have been found of a Roman port.

§ More seafaring history background: Jane Randolph (February 9, 1720-March 31, 1776) was the mother of U.S. President Thomas Jefferson. According to the Jefferson family bible, she was born on 9 February 1720 in Shadwell parish, Tower Hamlets, London. The parish register of St. Paul's, Upper Shadwell, notes her baptism on 20 February 1720 as the daughter of Isham Randolph (1687-1742), "mariner" of Shakespeare's Walk [...] and Jane Rogers (1698-1760). The Randolphs left London for Virginia shortly thereafter and were in the colony by October 1725 [...] . (Source: Monticello website.)

Myoden Station in Chiba Prefecture, on the Tozai Subway Line. This is where I crawl off a train at 7.50 in the morning to start a day's work, and where I hop, skip and jump onto a train at 4.15 in the afternoon, ready to submerge into a book for an hour on the way home. First roll with my brand new secondhand T2.

One of two-existing EMD RS1325 locomotives heads back to pick up the gondolas on the foreground track after heading to the CSX interchange. No cars were dropped for them (as per the CSX crew passing by), so all that was needed was to head to the scrap yard located a few miles down the branch.

I am unaware as to what the freight platform and building is currently used for, but of course the doors had locks on them.
