New Haven Railroad Pullman Standard built stainless steel MU cars (aka Washboards) are seen at the station platform in New Canaan, late 1950's. It's Winter, cold, with snow on the ground and the tracks, which would make one glad to be aboard one of the warm MU cars. The old vehicle next to the platform adds to this scene, along with the old Texaco star sign seen in the background. The name of the photographer that took this photo is unknown.

Its 17th July 1983 and due to a failed HST, 47278 plus a scratch stock of MkI coaches have been put together to form the 13.30 Sheffield to St Pancras service. Seen here about to depart from platform 5 at Sheffield Midland.
I was overjoyed that it wasn't a HST set at the time!.

New Haven Railroad with The Rexall Train and heavyweight 10 compartment Pullman sleeper Joan Manning seen at a platform in Union Station at New Haven, Connecticut, 8-25-1936. The car Joan Manning which was known under the Pullman Company as the Ridgeville, was built as a 10-compartment sleeper and was used for the train's staff sleeping quarters. There appear to be some executives standing on the left side of the photo. Notice that these train cars not only have the turtleback roof installed, but also have full width diaphragms included. Behind the Pullman is an electrical power plant. The car sides were painted in the Rexall Corporate colors of blue and white, along with a black roof and black underbody. All of the trains passenger car were air conditioned.
This photo came from my New Haven Railroad photo collection, and the photographers name is unknown. Any credit for this photo must be provided to the original photographer.

The old Platform 11 at Stratford station, in 1989, with the overgrown remains of Platforms 12 and 13 on the left, which were once used by steam services to Hertford East:

The rusted tracks look as if they have not been used very often, and there are weeds growing on the platform...
This platform was restored - with a new 'Platform 12' - in the early-1990s, and today (2025) the station - and the surrounding area - has been completely rebuilt and modernised (since 2012), but this platform still exists, and has been extended... The sidings on the left have gone, and there is a multi-storey car park next to the platforms here....
Restored from a faded grainy unfocussed orange-colour-shifted original negative..

First impression: That speaker should be mounted vertically, in order to spread the sound in a horizontal plane.
But then, this is a train platform, and we only need sound around a straight line. For the platform, horizontal or vertical speaker does not matter much. With this vertical placement, reflection from the fround might ad up to 3 dB. For the neighbors, this vertical plane is probably nice.
Platforms. The most boring thing of the train station itselft, but they can't be missed. I reused benches from my 2008' train station. Lights were completely rebuilt to be 3mm LED capable (you can see a wire put inside).
Personally I always want to put as much details as I can on the platform but at the same time I'm realizing it should allow smooth passengers traffic, shouldn't be an obstacle course.
The platform can be disassembled easily and stored as separate 48x48 studs modules.
