This church was mostly completed by 1420 but took another 80 years to fully complete with the tower being last. There have been earlier churches here as records exists of rectors going back tho 1253.

To allow for the new tower the earlier smaller tower was taken down and part of the church roof and windows were raised. You can see the raised roof in the image.

More testing with the HD DA 30/2.8 Macro on FF.

I tried to do something different today with these mild flowing waterfall shots, I tried to sort the sky out along with the rest of the scene.

Usually my sky shot is less than desirable, grey whiteout highlight blown mess, I tried to approach the problem from a different angle and take two shots, one exposed for the sky, the other for the fall.

Eh... it's a work in progress...

Primeras muestras capturadas con Pentax K3 II

Still waiting for the weather to improve so I can get out and test some of the K-1 Pixel Shift capabilities in the field. In the meantime, here are a couple of quickie still life/macro shots, shot on a tripod in my lviing room with natural light.

I used a Canon FL 55mm f/1.2 prime lens that I had converted a while back to fully manual K mount. Despite being half a century old, it's one of my favorite lenses, making up for any shortcomings in sharpness/aberrations with simply gorgeous rendering of both in-focus and out of focus elements of a scene.

Both images were taken at ISO100 with pixel shift activated. The closeup of the Columbine flower required the use of a 20mm extension tube, while the wider angle stil life has been cropped about 10-15%.

This was taken a short distance from Okehampton Castle.

100% crop from Secret hollow. I just noticed this Galax (Galax urceolata) in the photo; this closer look shows developing bloom spikes. A good example of how much resolution the K-1's "pixel-shift" mode can produce.

2D and 3D elements in this attempt at a logo for the FAA group "Born To Create" logo contest. The orb was a combination of two Chaosope designs put together to form one anaglyph. I added my own hand later via Photoshop.

Pixel Shift with Nikon NX Studio

Focus stacking with Helicon

I was asked by Nikon to test shoot the 3.0 FW with a special interest in the new ability to use Pixel Shift and Focus Shift at the same time.

Pixel Shift is an option where the camera moves the sensor during a series of captures. This series is then merged in the Nikon NX Studio software. In this case, the pixel shift option was set to the maximum capture option of 32 images. The camera exposed an image then moved the sensor… about half the width of a single pixel… and exposed the next one. For 32 images. Those 32 NEF (RAW) files were merged into one massive NEFX raw file that now has a resolution of about 180,000,000 pixels.

Focus Shift Shooting is an option where the camera makes an exposure then shifts focus to a different plane and makes another exposure. The cool part is that the camera is automatically setting the shift movement so that a series of images can be stacked on post in such a way to increase the depth of the PLANE of focus. This results in a subject the can have a nearly unlimited amount of the subject focus. Not just more depth of field, but depth of actual in focus.

The Z8 FW 3.0 is the first time anyone has offered both at the same time on a full frame professional camera.

This image is not only 3D stereo but a 2D-3D conversion using SPM. It also has an OOF (Out Of Frame) or OOB (Out Of Bounds or Out Of Border) effect.
