I encountered this little guy a few times while weeding my apple mint bed. He didn't seem to mind me so I was very careful not to intrude on him.
Even when he doesn't have to be, he's always on watch. We live in the middle of nowhere and he's always on guard.
Not sure which of these pix I like best. I like the one that shows the whole scene, but you can't see his cute face. I love the closeup of his face. The other problem is I forgot to put my polarizing filter back on after the failed milky way shoot, so the whole scene is hazy. help me out, guys. Any and all suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Early this morning I went down the hill to weed the steepest area of the front yard. It's fine for my husband to mow the weeds right now, but 10 years from now might be another story. I bought one yucca from a nursery, then dug up a bunch of wild ones growing in a neighbor's field. Only 1 grew a stalk this spring, but I'm grateful for that because it was a tough, bitter winter and I barely got these in the ground before the last frost. I am hoping they will spread and that will resolve the mowing issue. Besides, I will thoroughly enjoy sitting on the deck and admiring all those stalks of flowers.
After dinner tonight we went to the park and just sat next to the river decompressing from the week. We were the only ones there at the end of the road. A couple of cars came and then left. We were grateful for the solitude and thankful folks left us have that area to ourselves. We were only there half an hour but it was so peaceful. Just the birds singing and the swollen, full river. We had torrential thunderstorms 2 days ago that filled all the lakes, ponds and rivers and washed out the bottom of our driveway.
One thing I have noticed that's proving to be a challenge is the morning or late afternoon light and the mountains blocking it. So my image will be divided into the brightly lit background contrasted with the darker foreground. I guess I need to plan out my shots better.

A wacky wide angle phone shot of Salisbury Cathedral. They actually encourage photography within this iconic building which makes a pleasant change. The hardest part then is capturing an image with the fewest people which is not that easy with so many from around the world keen to visit this landmark structure. This particular picture was to take advantage of the reflections in the still waters of the font.
