A veiw along the northern entrance to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument along the southern border of Arizona. The long, multi branched, skinny bushes (green & red) are Ocotillo plants which are featured in a closeup shot in my next submission.

Another composition of our start of our hike up Dripping Springs Valley in the northeren part of Orgn Pipe Cactus National Monument, southern Arizona

4 Saguaros hug together along the Dripping Springs trail in the northern part of the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in southern Arizona.

I came across this scene on a street in the vicinity of London Wall, not far from Liverpool Street station. There was scaffolding up against this old building with it's magnificent railing out front, all of it lit by these ethereal orange lights. I was fortunate that I came across this just as the light was fading but there was still some ambient light available. It meant I could shoot this hand held and still get away with a relatively acceptable image in terms of sharpness.

Another one looking south toward Twin Peaks from the Porto Blanco Drive which runs across the northern half of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, southern Arizona.

In this view are man of the cacti for which Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is know. Saguaro Cactus (tall), Ocotillo (many thin sticks), Cholla Cactus (whitish, heavily thorned) and Barrel (one small one near the middle). All but the Organ Pipe Cactus which are in other regions of the park.

When pipe dreams turn into nightmares but, to be clear, it is only the eye contact that is different to what I already saw. His expression and pipe smoking caught my eye in the first place.

I hope that you are all having a great weekend of photography. Take care.

I liked the contrast between all the beautiful shrines and temples around, to this rusted, industrial pipe just sticking out of the wall there.

Casual shot taken through a scaffold pipe I passed on my walk. No thought, no plan, just being careful of my lens and hood on the iron?

Instead of the pipe not being real, this passe partout is just a bit of pencil scrabbling and an illusion of shadow.

Magritte can take a joke,I think.

What a day I picked to have a wander along to Southwick to visit the Hot pipe, my only opportunity of the week to get out with my camera and I wanted a high tide too. Well I got the high tide and lots more, the swell was huge as it always is at this spot with the waves rushing up the beach.

I tried to do a long exposure but I could not keep the shutter open for too long because of the misty sea spray. I first shot this spot a few years back i`ll pop a link in to show you , so one reason for my visit was to see if the beacons were still there with a view to going back to shoot a sunrise there again. If you don`t know where this is it`s behind Shoreham power station and gets it`s name from the outlet where the cooling water used to come out of the power station, it used to be a great little surf spot too .

I received word last night that the Keokuk Junction ABA F-units would be leading an extra pipe train across the ex-TPW from Mapleton to Keokuk today. I thought about going after it and pulled the trigger this morning, taking half-a-day off. Thanks to some more timely updates, I was able to make a bee-line to the Spoon River bridge at Seville, IL and bag my first runby.

This shot has really opened up since the new bridge went in and those two ex-ATSF GP20s didn't look half-bad either!
