Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Gelsey in another 'color series' pinup. This series has looked at the classic styles of artists such as Pearl Frush, Earl Moran, and Peter Driben who often features simplistic pinup artwork with just the pinup girl, possibly a few props, and a very bright colorful background. Light falling on the pinup girl for many of the pinups would come from offscreen somewhere, highlighting parts of the girl. This is a look back at these classic late 1940s/1950s style of pinup artwork.

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Kayla in this salute to the women who toured the theater of war to bring morale to the troops past and present! War is a terrible thing, and often military members find themselves in the most stressful and difficult situations of life and death beyond what they could have imagined. This was especially true in World War 2 in every branch of service. From the crushing depth charges in the sea to the unforgiving flak bursts in the sky, the brave men pushed through it all to perform their duty. So a little piece of that familiar safe home was worth more than gold to these men. Celebrities, 'pin up girls', and other performances would travel around the world to bring those few moments of peace and a reminder of what they were fighting for back home. Here, Kayla sits atop a Jeep on some airfield in the UK bringing a smile to the faces of the airmen who would soon have to climb back into their B-17 Flying Fortress and head off for the dangerous skies over Nazi occupied Europe.

Today's NEW airbrushed style pinup photo features Kayla in this Christmas pinup for December! Imagine waking up hearing a noise late at night on Christmas Eve and upon coming downstairs to investigate you discover Santa Kayla. She's making her rounds leaving presents under the tree, and having realized you've snuck a peak and spotted her, she puts a finger to her lips and says 'shhhh' as she magically disappears... Most guys would be sad that she wasn't the present left under the tree!

Today's NEW airbrushed style pinup photo features Brittnee in this Coca Cola themed advertisement pinup! From the 1930s into the 1940s, Coca Cola pushed the 'Coca Cola Girl' into their advertising quite heavily. Often doing some everyday task from working in a factory, serving in the military, or even playing at the beach with the gals always taking a break from their current task to have a Coke (in order to 'Refresh' themselves before continuing on with that task). This retro advertisement is part of the ongoing Coca Cola original ad recreations. The colors, fonts, language, and graphics of these have been meticulously researched and recreated to match the original style of the advertisements.

I don't often shoot pinups. Not that I have anything against the genre- bodies are beautiful, and deserve to be celebrated in all their many forms. Outside of screen-shooting, pinup art has a long and vibrant history as an emblem of feminist resistance to body-shaming social mores- and an equally long and sordid history as an emblem of the patriarchal reduction of women and their bodies to objects of desire.
A subtle but significant difference exists between works created along the spectrum between these two poles. It seems that more photography-photographers are able to work with models to create pinup art that is as respectful as it is salacious or celebratory (though there are certainly plenty of skeevy creepers out there leering through the lens). Without the person-to-person negotiations between model and photographer that are a part of any real-life shoot, it seems that more (but by no means all!) screen pinup artists are creating work that tends towards the icky male-gazey and objectifying side.
