The beautiful maiden pink, Dianthus deltoides, is a small, perennial wildflower now on the Amber list as vulnerable because of habitat loss caused by overgrazing.

It grows on dry, lime-rich grassy banks and sand dunes in southeast Scotland, and seems to be thriving at St Cyrus National Nature Reserve, where it is monitored. I bought some seeds from Scotia Seeds, and it's now also thriving in a pot in my garden!

I love their serrated petals and the blue pollen.

Pink flower petals with some treatment! :)

Pink, it's my new obsession

Pink, it's not even a question

Pink on the lips of your lover

'Cause pink is the love you discover

Pink as the bing on your cherry

Pink, 'cause you are so very

Pink, it's the color of passion

'Cause today it just goes with the fashion

Day 15/365

For Smile on Saturday, la vie en rose

A horrible dull dreary day here so played around with my old OM Zuiko 50mm lens and a Makinon x 2 converter.

One pink rose in the garden........

Just pretty and colourful on a wet rainy day.

Although it may look purple but in real life is intense pink :-)

Pink Clematis is a vigorous deciduous vine boasting a profusion of bright pink flowers from early summer to early fall. This charming vine is ideally suited to growing over arbors, covering walls, or scrambling through shrubs or trees.

A pink Hibiscus I found while walking the dog.

Pink glove is a track by Pulp, and I think it sums up the beach and this rock pool, which held it's pink reflection for me! I was a bit annoyed at the bubbles on the water at the time, but as the tide had only just dropped, it was a bit obvious that would be the case!! Relax!

We left the house before sunrise on New Year's day with two ideas in mind.

1. Go out for breakfast.

2.Drive the back roads to find some photo ops.

I had about given up on a pretty sunrise shot since there didn't seem to be much color and no clouds, but just before the sun came up the color turned pink, one little cloud turned up, and this old corn crib lined up nicely.

Oh, the breakfast was good too.

Pink?!

Yes. Pink. See the kayaker there in the lower left of the photograph? I have no idea who she is, but she sure came along at an opportune moment.

Actually, this was a very easy shot to give a title to. Some others I thought of were:

Lady In Pink

Kayaking Through Autumn

Rorschach Explorer

Don't Hurt Your Eyes

That last one for anyone who has a large monitor and spends anytime staring at this photograph. But, Flickr screws up the contrast of my shots so bad, it'll looked watered down no matter what you look at it with. But, whatever! I don't have the time to keep changing it and then uploading it to Flickr again until it looks like what I see on my monitor.

By the way, since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought this was a pretty appropriate photograph. Whoever chose pink for the awareness color, certainly knew what they were doing. If it stands out among this riot of autumn color, it will stand out anywhere.
