WeatherGrrrl and I went to the Institute for Contemporary Art today. As we passed through the Boston Financial District on our way there, we stumbled across "As if it were already there" by Janet Echeman. This is a big, glorious public art sculpture installation in the sky above a park (the Rose Kennedy Greenway). This is actually a brightly colored (if the light catches it correctly) net/mesh of high strength fibers and LEDs that actually lights up in quite brilliant color at night. (I highly recommend the wonderful pictures on her web site, which include some cool night shots.)
Nice of that cloud to drift by. I just got lucky on the airplane, though; I'm not entirely sure I even realized it was there looking at my little screen in the bright summer sun.
These images were shot on the final night of Thaipusam in and around the Batu Caves in Malaysia between 2 - 6 am. I had the amazing experience of being invited to photograph this event with Joe McNally, Michael Greenberg, Drew Durian and Daniel Capobianco.
