10 Hudson Yards NYC - 2016 - Architect: Kohn Pederson Fox
895-foot, 52-story futurist office building completed in 2016. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, it was the first tower in the Hudson Yards complex to have been completed, because it is the only Hudson Yards tower not on the artificial platform over the tracks of the West Side Yards.
The prism-shaped building is clad mostly in silver glass, with a base of glass, silver metal paneling, and grey granite. The southern facade cantilevers over the 30th Street spur of the High Line, where one of the building's entrances is located. The tower bridges over the elevated park to create a dramatic 60-foot public passageway extending through the structure. Above this rises a dramatic 15-story atrium incorporated into the tower, spanning Coach's floors. The glass southern wall of the atrium serves as a visual anchor for the High Line.
10 Hudson Yards is connected to its taller sister tower, 30 Hudson Yards, by a glass enclosed, 7-story retail podium, home to The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards. At the east end of 10 Hudson Yard's south facade, four enormous, granite-clad columns shaped at various angles support the cantilever over the High Line. At the west end, another structural element, this one with the glass cladding extending all the way down the street level, supports the opposite end of the tower, and together these frame the glass atrium. Five more granite columns, narrowing at their bases, form the east facade, with glass infill between them that narrows toward the top, in opposition to the stone of the piers. Above the High Line, the southeast-facing facet of the tower forms a wedge that narrows as it rises, angling slightly outwards before abruptly turning vertical as a narrow strip at the upper floors. The rest of the east and south facades have a serrated look, with the glass at each floor angling outward and overlapping the next floor.
The west facade sloped inward at the upper floors, giving the tower a leaning effect. The roof forms a slanted wedge, with two opposing triangles tilting down in opposite directions.

These daffodil shoots have pierced the Swamp oak leaf that got in their way. It is curious the leaf wasn't pushed out of the way but cut open.

A very long South Central Florida Express Fort Pierce turn is returning to Clewiston with US Sugar GP11 307 (unknown lineage) and GP40-2 501 (ex MILW GP40 184 blt 3/66) leading. They are seen here southbound on Florida East Coast Railway's K Branch passinf the Carlton Runaround near MP 9.2. They have trackage rights over the northern 15.5 miles of the branch to interchange with FEC at the Fort Pierce yard beside the mainline. From MP 15.5 south the SCFE leases and maintains the remaining 55 miles of the branch to Lake Harbor as they have since 1998. The SCFE is a wholly owned subsidiary of United States Sugar Corporation that also has over 100 miles of non common carrier standard gauge trackage serving their cane fields and processing plants. All locomotives now where these USSC colors and comingle between the common carrier railroad and industrial operations. The climb was tough—scrambling over steep, crumbling rocks with my gear strapped tightly. Each step felt precarious, but I knew the view would be worth it. And it was. I set up my camera on this hidden stretch of Renvyle’s coastline, where the rough, rounded boulders gave way to a sweeping view of the sea.
With the ND filter in place, I captured the water, transformed into a mist-like veil, stretching out toward the horizon. The setting sun's light danced on the surface, casting soft, golden reflections off the rounded stones in the foreground, turning them into mirrors. Out in the distance, jagged rocks pierced the sea, leading my eye toward the horizon where the sun was sinking slowly behind a line of dark, dramatic clouds. Some were lit up in fiery hues, while others remained shrouded in shadow, creating a striking contrast of light and darkness over the water.
In that moment, the world felt suspended—silent, timeless, caught between day and night. The effort to get there faded into insignificance as the beauty of the scene unfolded.
A perfect rendezvous for those with particular interests on landscapes offers wide options to pick. a blending of 2 images with great light. Paraglider and the actual scene from Pierce reservoir. Wish you luck on your next outing and be safe.
UP's Pierce Yard in northeast Houston is a real-world example of a model railroader's staging yard. It's often used to stage trains to get them out of originating yards (like Englewood) until power or crews are available to get the train out of town.
Here, a light power move from Englewood rolls on the East Belt towards Pierce to pick up the cars of the MEWWC that had been staged the day before. After getting the train put together and air-tested, they'll be on their way to California.

I didn't expect to get this kind of a sunset! It's was raining most of the day. Then, for only a couple of minutes, the sky opened! You don't see it in the picture, but there was a dozen other photographers here as well, all trying to capture the fleeting moment.
This is, of course, Lower Pierce Reservoir in Singapore.
