Castle Howard, North Yorkshire, England was built by Sir John Vanbrugh. The build was started c. 1700 and took 100 years to complete.
It is still the home of the Howard Family.
In 1940 a fire broke out in the South-East wing and swept through the house into the Great Hall, destroying the dome and twenty rooms in all. Fortunately, the house has now been largely restored.
The sky in the picture represents the evening of that great fire and was of course achieved by post processing.
Mousehole, on the Penwith peninsula in the far west of Cornwall, is a delightful little fishing village which has become largely reliant on the tourist industry. Although we think that the threat from the Spanish was defeated when the Armada had its famous problems in 1588, the Spanish continued to threaten these shores. Mousehole was one of several villages and small towns razed to the ground by a Spanish raiding party in 1595. The harbour is much older than that, and parts of it date back to before the medieval era although the present buildings surrounding it date from around the 18th century onwards.

Il Cansiglio è un altopiano delle Prealpi Carniche posto a cavallo tra le province di Treviso, Belluno e Pordenone.
Dalla caratteristica forma a catino, ha una quota minima di 898 m con rilievi circostanti di altezza media di 1300 m; i rilievi importanti sono: M.Pizzoc(1565m), M.Croseraz(1694m) e M.Millifret(1577m).
I principali accessi all'altopiano sono: a sud attraverso la valle della Crosetta che si accede da Vittorio V.to(TV) e a nord dalla valle del Campon nella zona dell'Alpago (BL).
Il clima è temperato, con escursioni termiche da 29° a -20° , l'umidità è elevata per le abbondanti precipitazioni, spesso nella conca è presente la nebbia, l'inversione termica è rilevante con venti gelidi provenienti dalle cime più alte.
La natura carsica del terreno fa si che le abbondanti precipitazioni non diano origine a corsi o invasi d'acqua significativi, nel fondo delle doline i detriti intasanti danno vita a piccoli invasi d'acqua (lame) e alle torbiere.
