I have put the entire series below. As the mantis was moving it was not always easy to get the best focus but there are elements that are fairly clear in each one and it is fascinating to see how it camouflages itself by bending its body into various shapes to make itself look like its surroundings. I am completely fascinated by it. In the picture above you can see its typical fighing type of stance, anchoring itself with the back legs and lifting the front legs to box with.

if I let you go
I will never know
What my life would be
Holding you close to me
Will I ever see
You smiling back at me
How will I know?
If I let you go ...

This Carolina Wren spends a lot of time on our shed roof, bobbing up and down and singing. He has an amazingly loud volume for a small bird.

She thinks the pond was built exclusively to be her's! Samantha spends most of her summer days on a bench by the pond, enjoying the sound and site of the fish that she so enjoys watching! Of course she eats the fish food which falls on the rocks around the pond whenever possible! LoL!
This net over shelter is a real bonus at times like this keeping out 98% of the leaves as well as critters!

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

Nikon D700...This my first shoot with a recently bought toy and I was very lucky indeed when this magnificent bird, to my disbelief, spreads it's tail...I guess it is a good sign (Feng Shui) for my D700 cam this year!...
