Herrenhaus Hoyerswort,
Eiderstedt
Sehr schönes Herrenhaus.
Kaffeetrinken drinnen oder draußen im Garten. Um einen herum laufen Hühner und ein Hahn. Sehr unterhaltsam.
I started this piece, from my original drawing, in a workshop in TX with Ariana Gallo (from Kokomosaico in Ravena Italy). Unfortunately I missed 2 of the 3 days because I got sick. Fortunately, I was still able to pick up the techniques, using lead & self-leveling plaster, which I'll definitely use again.

Every year on the island of Okinawa, Japan, there's a 3 day festival called the 'Tsunahiki'. Over the course of the three days there are parades running all afternoon and well into the night. The parades feature music, dancing, martial arts, costumes, and various demonstrations of strength, which the Okinawanans are known for. On the final day of theTsunahiki there is an enormous rope (almost a mile long!!) laid down along the longest street of Naha, the main city, and the world's biggest tug-of-war takes place where thousands of people participate -the west side of the island versus the east.
This shot was taken on the second day as a group of children were waiting for their turn to to join the parade procession. You can see how they dig deep for inspiration.
(*there's only one kid looking at the camera. can you spot him/her?)

one more interesting statistic; apparently this is ranked one of the most 'interesting' photos (previously the most interseting) on flickr with the tag 'Japan' (there are over 1,636,613 photos other photos on flickr with that tag!). amazingly, this photo is #1.
