One of the qualities that a grand piano uses to draw you in is its sheer massiveness. Check out those frame members on the harp of this piano. When all the strings are up to tension, the combined force is many many tons! How come tension is always required to produce beauty?

He loves his piano lessons with grandpa. You wouldn't know it from this picture, though, since he's clearly more interested in something out of frame, and has a semi-glazed look in his eyes. But trust me, he loves them.
This is an interesting angle, the keys look so very tiny when compared to the massive sound producing portions of this grand piano. I took this shot on a cloudy day and I love how the light filters through the strings.
