This small building was originally a barber shop and eventually Berta's Quick Shop. At some point in its past piano lessons were also taught here.

Today it's the home of El Gallo (The Rooster) Cafe. They offer coffee, smoothies, croissants and Mexican food. It's been open since at least 2021. The little cafe has survived the pandemic and is open Monday-Thursday 7a.m. until 1 p.m.

Lessons in G Major

Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata in G Major (Op. 49, No. 2) — its pages still marked with my piano teacher’s pencil from years of practice, patience, discipline, and perseverance. I began learning to play piano at just five years old. I played all the way up to Grade 10 level piano of The Royal Conservatory of Music. Although I don’t play as often now, the music and its value has never left my heart.

For this week’s theme, Music, this well-loved score feels like gratitude in paper form — proof that some lessons stay with you long after the final note fades.
