The Community High School math department put on various events, including free pie during lunch, to celebrate Pi Day on 3/14. Teacher Anne Thomas passes out pie.

6. While the crust is baking, make a stiff vanilla custard (adding cornstarch does the trick).

4. When the crust is ready, stick it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This ensures a nice, light, flaky finished product. (We use 50% butter, for flavor, and 50% shortening, for flakiness.)

Love these little hanging bell-like blossoms. This is their best time of the year.

Celebrating Pi Day! March 14th, or 3.14.2009, was celebrated today by getting everyone their own piece of pie! Yeah, mine was crammed into a goblet with icecream. So not healthy.
