Park your bike with us!
Woah 41 bicyclists were out in droves to bike to Pie shops on Pi Day 3.14. I joined Team Vancouver and biked over in the morning to Portland with Vancourite Leader, John with 9 total (Yes about 1/4 of the ride came from the couv - I was happy to represent). Boy oh boy, I ate bites of three berry pie, strawberry rhubarb, rhubarb cream, coconut cream, and moon pie. I also had a hot pie of sweetpotatoes and cauliflower, and later post ride a pizza pie!

a day hike in Terra Alta in winter- lots of green pine trees, vinyards and some wildflowers-
this is an 'arbre monumental', a named and registered tree of historic size and age. There is a register for olivetrees as well.
The Pi del Balija is 19m high and the circumference of the trunk is 4.4m.
I am assuming Balija was the name of the owner of the finca next to the tree...Curt admiring the tree.
I went down to the Harbor Steps today to take a picture of the Pi Sculpture but sadly I found it dismantled in the back of this truck.

Pattern: Pi Shawl from the Knitter's Almanac by Elizabeth Zimmermann
Yarn: Unspun Icelandic wool from Schoolhouse Press (super amazingly sheepy, smells straight from the farm!)
Needles: US 8 big ass circular
Notes: This yarn was a house-warming gift to myself and so I figured I'd knit something for the house with it. This beautiful blanket is one of my proudest accomplishments for a few reasons: it's really big and I usually get bored with large projects and set them aside. I messed up on the lace part at the bottom and set it aside for some time, and actually picked it back up! I put stitch markers every 70 sts so that if there was a mistake in the lace, I wouldn't have to rip out over 500 stitches. And it's almost August and I had a huge heap of super warm wool hanging on me. But it's done and I'm really really happy with it! Happy Housewarming, me!
