I made an apple pie yesterday, in dual celebration of Pi Day and my own birthday. I sort of failed at making crust (it ended up a bit thick) but it is a tasty pie nonetheless.
These are the photos I took underwater. My favorite shots are of the lion fish, the sea fans and the frog fish. I am still working on my underwater photo taking skills, as you can see- I have a long way to go! Hope you enjoy the shots.
I totally bullied my team into celebrating Pi Day. Lee made dairy-free chocolate pie, and the newest co-workers made strawberry pie and cheesecake (it was round... ).
This fabulous specimin is in the Pi pie plate that my Mom got me for Christmas the year I got her one, too.

Developed at the MIT Media Lab, "Scratch" is a graphical coding language that is great for introducing elementary concepts in computer programming. It is available for free and a version is installed on the Raspberry Pi single-board computers in the Jocelyn H. Lee Innovation Lab. It's easy to learn and a lot of fun for all ages.
Yeah, there have been better weeks for me.
I don't know how it all managed to lump up like this, but whatever it is, it's a habit I HAVE to break. Every so often this happens, and it just feels like I'm spiraling out of control.
Shot alone today, and honestly, I liked it that way. Just me and the art, no getting in the way of other people's shots, no worrying about time constraints, it was just what I wanted it to be: fluid, and all about me being alone. That just doesn't seem to happen up here much, and maybe that's what my malfunction has been partially. I've been surrounded by people, pressing in, constantly vying for my attention, and I just want to be left alone to think. I guess I got a piece of that today, but I want a whole lot more.
Volleyball tonight, and I'm starting to get psyched for the first time in a while. It's gonna feel good to exercise this out of my system.
A foto de hoje é especial. Uma singela homenagem a um dos melhores filmes que já vi até hoje! Life Of Pi (As Aventuras de Pi)

The picture today is special. An homage to one of the best movies I have ever seen: Life Of Pi

Pi tried to talk to her and didn't understand why she was incapable of speech ... poor thing has been a neglected only Blythe for years.

Perspective BackCountry Pi
If you have ever taken a math class or √100 classes, you might recognize π if you see it. I’m always on the look out for natural letters for my “alphabet” collection. I never expected to find Pi in the backcountry.
SOoooo, I really liked the view this old fallen soldier this mathamatical snag. A high vantage overlooking this remote borderlands backcountry scene . Fallen wood lasts a long time here in the semi-arid 14 inch per year precipitation environmnet. We have MANY snags left over from the big fire in the 1930’s that “burned till the snows came”. 90 year old snags usually don’t have their branches in piles so I’m guessing 50 years or less. Being on a steep slope has protected the branches from as many cattle from rubbing against them to scratch. The sun had barely risen with direct sun light JUST starting to touch parts of the high ridge I’m on. Click. Close/Far perspectives in the backcountry… be still my heart, a few visual tunnels here. 📷
I walk backcountry ridges routinely for significant distances. Exactly how far depends entirely on how much gear I’m carrying. Some of my camera lens combinations that I would walk around with weigh up to 8 pounds. If I’m walking a long distance I carry a pack of gear and a chest rig of cameras weighting 20 or more pounds depending on what I’m doing. THe trick of course is not to fall down a hill or into a cactus patch while looking through a long lens and moving. More than one photographer backed up “Just a little more” a bit too far lolol.😜
