Breakfast and more phonecalls

walking down 6th street late one weekday night, less of a crowd that way. Snapped a few candid shots of this girl waiting either for girlfriends or some dude. From the flaying of arms and loud voice at times I would probably say a guy on the other line. ha

Doing the best I can with a Nikon D80 and a 35mm f/1.8 lens...not the best but till I get something with more bells and whistles Im going to run this like my D50 into the ground.

The interior of "The Old Swan" a pub, café in the village of Hingene which is a part of the greater municipality of Bornem, a town in Belgium. The café exist since before I was a child.I had gathered up all my curage and asked the girl behind the bar if I could take some shots inside. She rung her boss and asked. It was o.k I also asked the punters sitting in the café if they'd mind being "in" the picture and no one objected. When finished, I ordered a cup of coffee and wanted to pay but did not find my purse anymore.Slowly It dawned on me that I had lost my purse, my money and papers. It must have happened whilst riding my bike to the village. So I retraced my steps but to no avail. My papers seemed lost.I contacted the police and cardstop to block my bankcards. Two hours later, back home and still sulking I got a phonecall.Somebody had found my purse on the road and wanted to return it.Man was I happy.I was always a firm believer of the "good" in mankind.

... more visitors, more phonecalls, and the grand finale ... the family party today

Trying something new... This is my visual interpretation of the song. Please, tell me what you think of it. I'm just learning how to use Photoshop, so if you have some hints, don't be afraid to say something ;)

No really.

Today, as I was just about to start the car and head back down to Richmond, my mom started shouting and pointing at my front left tire. I had a flat.

Exasperated, I called my car insurance company for a tow truck to come out and replace my tire for a whopping $75, cuz I didn't think about the fact that I have a spare, two jacks, and a tire iron in my trunk... oh, and neighbors. That didn't matter... because later on, our neighbor came to help me and we both found out that my spare is flat too!

Really?

I called my car insurance company back to cancel the tow service because they'd be wasting their time coming out here to replace a flat with a flat... and shockingly, the tow company told me there was a $45 cancellation fee. I begrudgingly agreed. I mean, it was $75 or $45. More on that later...

My neighbor and I took my tire to a local tire shop, where they patched it up in no time. For free.

That's when I started getting angry. The local tire shop patches my tire for free, but the tow company is charging me $75 or $45 for doing nothing?!

After getting a late start to my trip back to Richmond, everything ended up fine and dandy... except tomorrow, I'll be writing a strongly-worded email to my car insurance about the tow company they set me up with. Followed by some phonecalls. I am not losing $75 or $45 with nothing to show for it.

I did learn how to change a tire today. Add that to my ability to jump a car (though whether or not someone gets electrocuted in the process is a whole different story)!

66 minutes never feels that long when we're yakking...

My new personal best at 39lb 12oz. So close to the magically 40 mark but so far away.

The best part about this fish is the stories behind it.

First was a phonecall from my partner for the Baldwinsville tournament in May, Scott Townson. He hope Rod Mills and I would get into a mess of large fish, but we were not to catch anything larger than his personal best of 39lb 9oz that he had landed in Austin, TX. Well beat it I did but not by very much. As a result Rod left a message on Scott's phone that simply said "Tim's is bigger than yours."

The second and best story was when Rod was on the phone with BigCarpTackle.com's David Moore who was jokingly calling me "a flash in the pan carper" when the rod went off. Rod promptly hung up on Dave to net the monster.

Just when you thought you were done looking at my face!

I figured I ought to post a photo on my birthday, though. It was too wonderful not to.

It had it's ups (and downs!). I took a spill at lunch time and, though I was only bruised up from the fall my 50mm could not say the same. It broke in two for the third and most likely final time.

Today was wonderful, though! Sushi with co-workers, a new Fabric Horse utility belt for when I'm on my bike from Josh (!!!!!), lots of phonecalls and texts and emails from lovely friends and family, an illustration of me and my cats by Justin (!!!), the "Happy Birthday" song sung to me by my dad, chocolate!, and lots lots more great things (like feeling my heat in my apartment working for the first time.. YESS).

So I'm all hyped up and happy and tired all at once.

And f'real. I'm not going to bother y'all with this face for a while. Not until I get a new lens, at least.

Thanks everyone!

Long ago the local newspaper posted a huge and very lovely article about my work at the cat-shelter. I was so happy about it and some time later I got a phonecall. It was a local TV station which wanted to produce an reportage about my work, too. I was so excited. It was so funny because all of the cats made a great job. Especially the lovely chaos duo Jonny and Emil. (OK Jonny was attaking the camera the whole time because of the wonderful wobbly wires :giggle: ) Emil is a great poser and showed his best side while Jonny always stood in front of the camera or running through the picture. Annoying for the photographer but entertaining and funny for watchers ;-) All in all it was a great experience and a little strange to be in front of a TV-camera. The reportage turned out very lovely and I hope to get a little attention for the cats who are searching for a new home.

Sadly its in German but it gives a little insight to my work. The word "Vermittelt" on the paper my gf is holding in the end means that the cat found a new home and thats the reason why we do the work :aww:

(If you are owning a TV station and want to produce a reportage in English feel free to ask :lmao: )

Long day, I'm tired, Going to bed

Now here's a dilemma, i can make phonecalls with my digital photo camera.. ;)

The modern way. The couple across the street are doing it the old-fashioned way.

Okay, so I started a 365 project today. Here is my first shot, a little edgy, a little contrasty. I used my Nikon D300 with a SB-600 flash to capture the scene, and then a healthy dose of Adobe Photoshop to make it pop. It was a bit of a challenge to get the pilot to fly over 3 times to capture the shot perfectly, those jets move quick ... That's a joke, by the way.

Edit - Apparently I saved in in AdobeRGB... So I just switched that out for sRGB to make it all pretty like. Should look better now. :-)

i'm way too often staring at my phone.

"YOU DON'T HAVE ANY NEW MESSAGES."

well thank you.

i noticed that since you didn't ring.

sometimes i hate myself for having a cellphone.

i don't use it often.

but sometimes someone says he's going to call.

then i start staring at it each and every minute.

as most people then notice i am looking forward to it.

but of course it won't happen.

and then disappointment is even bigger.

why not simply calling without anouncing?

then i would not wait for this stupid thing to ring.

argh.

gotta stop to keep on posting this senceless stuff.

guess some of you know how it feels like.

just had to get it out of my mind.

exactly one second before i stare on mr. evil again.

i gotta stop that.

ps: gotta stop to be as pesimistic as i am as well...

Late 19th century window by Burlison & Grylls in the sanctuary at Catshill.

Christ Church at Catshill is largely the work of Harvey Eginton dating from 1838, though the chancel was rebuilt and enlarged in 1887. The soft red sandstone has weathered badly in places, making the church appear far older than it actually is.

The interior is fairly austere but contains some good glass, including a wonderful Arts & Crafts St Christopher window by Karl Parsons (one of my all time favourite glass artists) in the south chapel, where the adjoining window is toned with beautiful blue glass and the ceiling gilded (though hard to see in the low lighting).

The church is normally kept locked without keyholder information, so I am hugely indebted to the delightful lady who so willingly opened up for us following my phonecall.

Forgive me this experiment until I get outside again for some more natural shots, but I thought it might be worth trying something a little different.

This was Paddington Station yesterday - I couldn't resist it. Simply placing the camera on the floor, pointing it in the general direction of something interesting, pressing the auto focus button and then firing the shutter to see what comes out. I got two images that I thought were worth posting. Both 'found' people making phonecalls while the rest of the world rushed by or waited alongside...

I loved the 'giants' rushing into the shot, and have bumped up the saturation and the contrast for maximum impact. I'll post the second one in the morning and then see if I can redeem myself with something naturally beautiful in the evening.
