I have been wanting to photograph this abandoned garage for some time. Finally got there with right light. Trying HDR, vignetting and sepia with PS and Lightroom plugins.

An abandoned petrol / gasoline station in Wales, UK
Part of my "Abandoned, decayed or rotting" Flickr album.
On a dusty unpaved street in the small opal mining town of White Cliffs New South Wales, this derelict petrol pump stands guard over what was once a general store and service station. For more information on this delightfully quirky outback town see the text accompanying my other White Cliffs images.

Freight train 10602 climbs the eastern ramp to Vakarel on the line Plovdiv - Sofia. With a max gradient of 25‰ in this steepest section, the line requires three class-43 locomotives to get this circa 1600-tonne train to the summit at Vakarel.
Locomotives 43 526 and 43 307 are at the front with 43 542 pushing at the other end of the train.

I was photographing this at night when someone from one of the RVs approached me, asking what I was doing. Although obviously standing next to a camera on a tripod, I answered politely that I was photographing. He then said many people do this, that he and all the people in the RV have guns, and that they were watching the place and cleaning it up because someone might purchase this and turn it into a glamping spot. He also said I could photograph, so I did so, using a higher ISO so I could get the proper exposure quicker and then get out of there. This is the interior of an abandoned garage in Two Guns, Arizona. I lit the structure from several different angles with a handheld ProtoMachines light painting device during the exposure. This was photographed during a 10-day 2559-mile night photography road trip a day before meeting up with Mike Cooper, Tim Little, and George Loo.

Brdr Hanssens Auto, Nøtterøy was started in 1939. Here, cars, motorcycles, bicycles and tractors were repaired. During the war, generators were also repaired. The company got the Fiat agency in 1954, in order to get the agency required service facilities and gas station was established the same year in collaboration with BP.
The place was in use until 1982 and workshop operations until the early 1990s. It was then closed and abandoned until a few years ago.
The plan was for it to be demolished by the new owner; The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, to improve the safety of the road for traffic going through Nøtterøy and on to Tjøme.
Fortunately, demolition never happened.
On July 12, 2000, an agreement on restoration and use of the facility Brødrene Hanssens Auto was signed between the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and the Interest Group. The agreement gave the Interest Group the opportunity to restore the building stock and for later limited use of the facility. The facility is still the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's property, while all operating expenses, fixed costs and insurance are covered by the interest group. In the agreement, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has set a preliminary limit on the number of members in the Interest Group (8 - 10 people).
After many thousands of hours of volunteer work, it's now in a very good condition.
The interest group has also committed to take over the plant if the Norwegian Public Roads Administration finds it most appropriate to dispose of.
On December 7, 2005, the interest group Brødrene Hanssen`s Auto was awarded the Nøtterøy Municipality's cultural award for 2005.

I love this old petrol station. This was not taken in 1960, with the vintage Fish and Chip van - with its great inscription - it was taken this afternoon. It isn't a living museum either, it is just there at the side of the road - looking like this. It has changed a bit over the years with different vehicles rusting away in the yard, but the essence stays the same. I've geotagged in just in case you fancy taking a look yourself and maybe popping over and taking a photo or two. I am returning the favour so to speak as I spotted it on Flickr a while ago.
Maybe all the wind turbines in the distance (on Scout Moor?) give the era away?
Taken in East Perth. An abandoned petrol (gas) station. This was right on the fringe of China Town. Before walking here I didnt even know Perth had a China Town :-)
The Kaiser-Frazer Corporation was formed in July 1945 by two successful businessmen Henry J. Kaiser (1882-1967) and Joseph W. Frazer (1892-1971).
Immediately after the war their industrial activities changed to develop and produce cars.
In the first three years the Kaiser-Frazer Corp. was quite successful. The company offered cars simultaneously under two different brand names: Frazer and Kaiser. The sub-companies shared bodies and technics.
The first cars appeared in August 1946.
All Kaiser models were face-lifted for model year 1949.
New for 1949 was the Traveller Utility Sedan. This was a combination of a kind of commercial hatchback with a station wagon. The car had a back door which opened in two parts. The backseat could easily folded down to create cargo space. Industrial designer Howard "Dutch" Darrin (USA, 1897-1982) had a main influence on the styling, but the designs were revised by Robert Cadwallader.
Alex Tremulis (USA, 1914-1991) joined the design team in 1950 (after the 1948 Tucker failure).
The Vagabond was the luxury version of the Traveller. About 4500 units in total were built.

This is one-of-those scenes that I have driven past countless times over the years and said; I need to shoot that. There was always an excuse, however. Either I didn’t have a camera with me, or it was too dark or it was too bright, or the weather was bad, or there was too much distracting junk in the way, or something. Then the other day, on the way home from the theater, I ran out of excuses.
Please do not post notes on the image.

The queues here actually get quite long -- most of the snowmobile trips come back around 6pm, and finish with everyone filling up from the one pump.

Previously this was a UK branded site which switched to Tate Oil sometime between 2016-2019.
The two main forecourt pumps I believe were Avery Hardoll pumps, these both dispensed petrol and a lone Gilbarco Highline sat by the side of the garage.
The last street view image of the UK era had seen the two Gilbarco petrol pumps replaced by a twin hosed Dunclare pump, these would both receive the Tate Oil branding when the site rebranded although sometime after April 2019 the Gilbarco diesel pump would be replaced by what I think was one of the previous Avery Hardoll Petrol pumps which is now plain black
Sadly most recently the Dunclare petrol pump broke down and was replaced by the Gilbarco Euroline which dispenses the super (E5) unleaded as in this area there is a demand for it.

I had somehow overlooked this one. Taken at Goodwood FoS earlier this year. Vivitar IC101 (home modified) vs expired Fuji Sensia 100, cross processed.
Oh on tuesday it wasn´t that hot than today ...
have you seen my new grass in the back ? (proud ...)
One of the quirky things about Australia is that the Petrol Stations sell their fuel cheaper on one day of each week.
In North Perth it is Tuesday and so you get a surge of people filling up on that day.
Dunno why...
Following on from the previous photos of the site as Jack Allen Agriculture engineering this is the site in the present day which trades as Donnington Caravans and has done all through street view probably even longer.
I do believe the filling station closed at some point during the 1970's which may have been a Shell site at the time but cannot confirm this but seems that the site was decommissioned fairly quickly.
Donnington Caravans is just a short distance from the Holland Road Service Station a cash only site which is still branded as 3D but with some of the worst reviews ever seen including one from myself
