A little hard to discern the expression here...irritated by the intrusion into her personal space or slightly curious about interacting?

This is part of a set of self-portraits on personality disorders that I am currently working on. These portraits represent Schizoid Personality Disorder.

The DSM-IV-TR criteria for Schizoid PD are:

A. A pervasive pattern of detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of expression of emotions in interpersonal settings, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by four (or more) of the following:

1. neither desires nor enjoys close relationships, including being part of a family

2. almost always chooses solitary activities

3. has little, if any, interest in having sexual experiences with another person

4. takes pleasure in few, if any, activities

5. lacks close friends or confidants other than first-degree relatives

6. appears indifferent to the praise or criticism of others

7. shows emotional coldness, detachment, or flattened affectivity

Some theorists say that some Schizoid individuals actually feel that there is a possibility to form relationships with people and are bothered by their preference to be detached from people. These are the patients that actually seek out a therapist. I wanted to include a bit of that in some of these photos. In some of these photos I wanted to imply that someone else was in the room with my character, and she is feeling very awkward and unsure of how to interact. She is very inhibited and shows very restricted emotion, but there is a hint of curiosity.

Other photos assume that she is alone and content in her solitude.

This is one of a series of photos for my imedia project based on 'balloons' as a theme. They are also based on anti-stigma for mental health.
