There's enough gulls out here to make your head spin. I'm not sure if this is a Herring, Glaucous-winged, Western Gull or something else. It would repeatedly pick up this mollusk and drop it in flight onto the rocks below until it cracked open.

Last winter was cold, snowy and stubbornly persistent in Connecticut. Case in point: I took this photograph of Kent Falls on April 16, nearly a month into springtime!
Mother Nature has been rather forgiving so far this season, but then again, it's not actually winter just yet. Who knows what's in store for the next three or four months?

My life is like a little river, a little river that flows over many lands, winding its way through pleasant valleys and mountains high, eventually to flow into the sea. It bends, it twists and turns; always flowing but ever different and never still. My little river is sometimes steady; sometimes furious, surging over rapids; it is sometimes tranquil, meandering with hardly any visible movement. It gurgles with pleasure and sparkles in brilliant sunshine. My little river flows immediately to the next point in its journey. It does not normally back track. Those few times it does, it becomes stagnant and brackish. My little river does not struggle and strain, it simply flows on until it reaches its destination.
Along my little river there is always something to see and do, a new mystery or adventure awaits beyond every bend. A new friend is waiting on every bank the waters touch. Over time my little river changes, widening and deepening, sometimes eddying back on its self, sometimes bursting its banks when there’s too much water and sometimes drying up from lack of rain. My little river will at times change direction because of obstacles encountered, it is but will continue the journey to the sea; it is persistent. When one path is blocked it seeks another path. My little river is patient, for it knows it will eventually reach the sea.

An early yellow harbinger of spring.
Ficaria verna, (formerly Ranunculus ficaria L.) commonly known as lesser celandine or pilewort, is a low-growing, hairless perennial flowering plant in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae native to Europe and west Asia. It has fleshy dark green, heart-shaped leaves and distinctive flowers with bright yellow, glossy petals. It is now introduced in North America, where it is known by the common name fig buttercup and considered an invasive species. The plant is poisonous if ingested raw and potentially fatal to grazing animals and livestock such as horses, cattle, and sheep. For these reasons, several US states have banned the plant or listed it as a noxious weed. It prefers bare, damp ground and is considered by horticulturalists in the United Kingdom as a persistent garden weed. Emerging in late winter with flowers appearing March through May in the UK, its appearance across the landscape is regarded by many as a harbinger of spring.

Persistent pain experienced when we are young and active is unlikely to be accepted as something which is ‘normal’. Indeed, we are likely to do everything we can to ensure we obtain the best available help and find the treatment most effective to manage the pain.
Such attitudes and beliefs should not change with older age. Yet, pain in older people is highly prevalent and widely accepted as something to be expected and regarded as ‘normal’ in later life. Hence, suffering associated with persistent pain in older people often occurs without the appropriate assessment and treatment.

Características de Tauro
Fechas Tauro 21/4 - 21/5

General note: This film shows the work at Hydroponics International where the "farmers" carry walkie-talkie radios and have an extensive lab to develop and test mineral solutions that modify the soil and result in optimum produce. Viewers see shots of a two-foot long bean developed here, as well as tobacco, ornamentals, vegetables and fruits. The produce was packed under the name "Vita-Veg."
