The Kid was not thrilled about the heat. (Perhaps a valuable lesson about getting out of camp *early* will be learned.) But, he stuck with it and made it all the way to the top of the butte -- about 1,000 ft. of climbing in 1.6 miles.
This was on my way to work, I had spotted these cows "basking" in the early sunlight and felt there just might be a picture in there....somewhere. I was going to press delete on this one, but after a bit of perserverance I have something, not a lot, but something.

Many Protestant began to be buried here when the Girod Street Cemetery began to deteriorate. The cemetery is lined with Wall Vaults many of which contain the remains of volunteer firemen. There are also several large multi-vault tombs of volunteer fire companies such as Perserverance Fire Co No 13, Philadelphia Fire Engine Co No 14 and the tomb of Eagle Fire Co No 7. Elaborate tombs such as those of the Robert Stark and the WH Letchford families stand in the cemetery alongside the cast iron tomb of former mayor foundaryman, Charles L Leeds. One of the most interesting tombs, is the Soon On Tong Association tomb used as a temporary burial space of Chinese residents. The remains were once brought here for ceremony before being shipped back to China. The tomb of Maunsell White, veteran of the Battle of New Orleans and promoter of the use of hot peppers and pepper sauces (still used today), is buried here.

This brave man has camped here ever since the Iraq war began- winter, rains, summer heat- the man has shown unflinching disregard for weather or living conditions. New regulations force him to demonstrate his protest only within a 1 m X 1 m X 1m designated space. Perserverance indeed. But he ensures the PM sees him and his protest everytime he is driven into the Houses of Parliament.

Here I took three images. One of the skater jumping, one of her falling, and one of her getting back up. I then duplicated the layer of her getting up and kept it in color I changed all the other layers to black and white. I used the magnetic lasso tool to cut out the image of just the skater (delete the background) and reduced the opacity of her jumping and her falling. I then used the eraser tool to erase the skater getting back up from the black and white copy, so that she would be the only color part of the image. I then added the Perserverance title in Lithos Pro font and I made the color a very pale pink, almost white. I added a black stroke and a drop shadow to it. I then put the definition in the bottom corner, using the same color and a drop shadow and stroke as well.
I am very happy with how this turned out.

Standing on the bank of the River Liffey, in Custom House Quay, Dublin Docklands, these sculptures, titled "Famine" by Rowan Gillespie were presented in 1997 and are a memorial of the suffering, to the one million people who emigrated, and to the one million lives lost to the Great Irish Famine of 1845-1849
They stand on the departure point of the 'Perserverance' one of the first famine ships to leave in 1846.
