Man paddles across icy Ontario lake on winter kayaking adventure for fun and fitness

My Academy Archer supplement arrived in the mail, and I don't even bow-hunt. But we're in Texas, where huntin' is a big deal.

I scanned the cover and put the Speical Ops Cammo Dude next to his quarry. Somehow, it just doesn't seem like a fair contest.

Having seen the works going on at St Peters Square I thought a very high up view would show how things are changing. Only a single unit fit going towards Cornbrook and no other unit had to be in the Northbound platform. Took quite a few goes but its not like there is a shortage of workings.

This one shot was a result of about an hours perserverance.

The Famine Memorial, Custom House Quay, Dublin, Ireland.

Famine (1997) was commissioned by Norma Smurfit and presented to the City of Dublin in 1997. The sculpture is a commemorative work dedicated to those Irish people forced to emigrate during the 19th century Irish Famine. The bronze sculptures were designed and crafted by Dublin sculptor Rowan Gillespie and are located on Custom House Quay in Dublin's Docklands.

This location is a particularly appropriate and historic as one of the first voyages of the Famine period was on the 'Perserverance' which sailed from Custom House Quay on St. Patrick's Day 1846. Captain William Scott, a native of the Shetland Isles, was a veteran of the Atlantic crossing, gave up his office job in New Brunswick to take the 'Perserverance' out of Dublin. He was 74 years old. The Steerage fare on the ship was £3 and 210 passengers made the historical journey. They landed in New York on the 18th May 1846. All passengers and crew survived the journey.

One of my favorite flowers

that is prominent in the

Angeleno streetscape. We once had

one in Hollywood that grew so

immense it literally engulfed our house, so only it could be seen

from a distance.

This is one of the last shots I took from St Mary's last weekend, partly as my fingers couldn't feel the shutter any more, and partly as the sun got too bright to balance the exposure properly (need a stronger ND grad!). Having looked through the last shots, I wish I'd stayed just a bit longer, as the colours being picked up in the spray were wonderful.

This shot was a combination of perserverance (must have 15 similar shots which didn't work), timing.....and thinking "doesn't matter if I get wet - I'm off home for a cuppa soon"!

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.”- Swami Vivekananda

megan_sarmardin: @adeldemeyer I think success is if you're happy. Going to sleep at night knowing you did the right thing. I sing because it makes my heart & head happy. Not to sell a million records or earn millions of dollars. My idea was singing. That's all I ever wanted to do. I thought about it, I dreamt it & I lived it.

snowinri: In order to be successful you've got to be willing to sacrifice much, as well as being prepared to #paytheprice. Some can do that with #cash, many sit around all day hoping without action to get #lucky and then we have the few, through #patience #perserverance and with old-fashioned #blood #sweat and #guts. Those are the one's that will #standthetestoftime. Can ya #hearmenow @adeldemeyer?

~a broken dock enduring the waves of Lake Huron on a summer evening~

Cash is a two year female Labrador Retriever that we see periodically at the river. Her owner works her, endlessly throwing a white bumper into the water for her to retrieve, time after time. She loves it and could go on for hours. Max loves to watch her make her amazing splashes into the water in hunt of the bumper. He prefers to watch her from dry land--neither swimming nor retrieving are high on his list of activity. The photo below is Cash also waiting for a command.

Was rather disappointed tonight that I was too late to 85C yet again. As I stood there clicking my tongs trying to decide what I should get, I turned around and OMG, the LAST bag of the squid ink bread that I have been craving for, lay on the tray! I grabbed it and ran out of the door with it (after paying), LoL.

As the sun was setting Friday night just before kickoff of my son's football game, I was able to get this photo of the sunset and the grandstands on the opposite side of the field...I started to fix the lens flare but decided I liked it. Also, if you look really close, just above and to the right of the lens flare is an airplane that I didn't even see until I got home and looked at these on the computer...cool, huh??

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5000 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop.

We recently revamped our family room because the boys are tall enough to climb onto the bench that we had in place to prevent them from touching our flat screen TV. We removed the bench and moved the flat screen TV onto our fireplace. I really like the new layout - I feel like there's so much room now (and the TV stand now acts as a storage unit for their toys which is a huge bonus). We thought we had them beat but they somehow managed to beat us at our own game, as they are now climbing the couches!

I took this photo of the boys today shortly after they climbed our loveseat at the same time. You gotta see them climb. They are literally balancing on their big toe to get up there. I have never seen more perserverance ... they even sat down together and posed for this photo! The moment didn't last long though ... it never does! ;)

Man sets off on winter kayaking journey in Ontario wilderness in icy lake

This came in second because I wanted to talk about this guitar. This week I am going to begin teaching myself the guitar!

I bought this Guitar at Christmas for £50 and I really think I can teach myself. It is a dream of mine to sing and strum, I want to write songs for my friends and more-than-friends(-if-ever). I want to be a photographer-guitarist extraodinaire and I can't see any reason why I couldn't be just that :)

Thanks to everyone who has asked about Sophie. It is wonderful to know that she has friends around the world thinking of her!! Her condition turned worse on Friday and she spent the holiday weekend at the veterinary's office. Her symptoms remained unchanged through Tuesday morning so the doctors performed an exploratory surgery. Her bladder wall was covered in a gritty plaque and they scraped off what they could of it. Samples and a biopsy were taken to be sent to a pathologist at the University here. At this point they have no idea what is causing the plaque and the resulting irritation. She will be coming home today to await the test results.
