Statement of Significance

What is significant?

Dennington Railway Bridge is a long single-track railway bridge of timber-beam on timber piers construction built in 1890 as an important component of the Warrnambool-Koroit section of the Terang-Port Fairy Railway. The bridge spans the Merri River immediately west of Dennington township in an area of open treeless farmland making the long low bridge visible from a considerable distance.

Completion of the Warrnambool-Port Fairy sections of the railway allowed the rapid transport of fresh fish and crayfish from the coast and potatoes and onions from the Koroit area via the Dennington Bridge to the metropolitan markets of Melbourne and Geelong. The section of railway line between Warrnambool and Koroit for which the Dennington Railway Bridge was created, was also a key link-section providing access to a wide-ranging network of western Victorian railways linked up through major railway-junction points at Koroit, Hamilton, Horsham and Ararat. From the 1890s the railways were able to provide more efficient transport than road haulage to coastal steamers and competition to the shipping of Warrnambool, Belfast and Portland, that had previously provided the far Western District's main freight links with Melbourne and the wider world. The section of rail line from Warrnambool to Port Fairy that includes the Dennington Railway Bridge closed in 1977.

Dennington Railway Bridge was constructed to a standard 15 feet (4.6 metres) span length and comprises forty-one spans, giving a total deck length of 188 metres. It was originally constructed to the in the Victorian Railways standard design of 1877 with two piles per pier, braced with stay-piles. The bridge was subsequently converted to its present four piles per pier through the addition of a longer cross head and two outer raked piers as part of a state-wide upgrade of railway bridges following the introduction of heavier and faster trains after 1900. In most bridges this upgrade resulted in the removal of stay piles however at Dennington the main stream section of the bridge retains an extensive and intact system of stay-piles on both the up and down stream sides of each four pile pier, thought to be the largest remaining set of stay piles in Victoria.

How is it significant?

Dennington Railway Bridge is of historic and scientific (engineering) significance to the State of Victoria.

Why is it significant?

Dennington Bridge is of historic significance as a key component of the Terang-Port Fairy Railway, the final stage of east-west rail service connecting Geelong to Warrnambool and Port Fairy which, when completed in 1890, for the first time enabled the rapid and efficient transport of the agricultural and fishing produce from the far Western Districts to the metropolitan markets of Geelong and Melbourne.

Dennington Bridge is of scientific (engineering) significance to the state of Victoria in being the most intact surviving example of a large timber-beam rail bridge with an extensive system of stay-piles on either side of its main river-channel section. Dennington Railway Bridge with its deck length of 188 metres is also of significance as the fourth-longest surviving rail bridge built to the standard Victorian Railways fifteen-feet (4.6 metre) timber-beam-span design, developed in the 1870s. A small number of surviving early long timber railway bridges of this design include the bridge over the Wannon River on the Branxholme - Casterton line (1884, 293 metres); the Yarra Glen viaduct on the Lilydale Healesville line (1880s, 260 metres) and the Latrobe River overflow bridge on the Traralgon - Stratford line (1877, 242 metres).

The Dennington Bridge is of aesthetic significance at a local level for the contribution of the long low timber bridge to the rolling farmland landscape of the Western District.

On April 25, 2019 the Los Angeles Fire Department provided a demonstration of the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) program for Councilmember Blumenfield and his staff. This event showcased the entire fleet, provided a live stream demo and highlighted the arrival of the newest addition, the DJI Matrice 600. The Matrice 600 was donated via the LAFD Foundation and is the largest drone in the fleet. It is capable of performing an active role within an incident. For example, it can drop rope lines and/or life preservers during a water rescue which could facilitate a quicker rescue.

The title is a pun on the phrase ‘Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted’, famously quoted by William S Burroughs, who helped popularise cut-up culture. The evening included live performances by artists, musicians and poets who have creatively dissected, recycled and quoted.

This is a photograph from a set of photographs taken at the St. Coca's AC 5KM Road Race 2022 which was held in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 20:00 on Friday 25th June 2022. The photograph was taken at around the 200m to go mark.

This long established road race is widely regarded as one of the fastest and best organised road races of its kind in Leinster. The race follows a left handed course around a well known local walking route around Laragh and in the closing kilometer runs parallel to the Royal Canal into the finish at the railway station in the town having started at the primary school close to the St. Coca's running track. In fact for several hundred meters after the 4KM marker towards the finish the course runs parallel with the railway, canal and the R148 between Kilcock and Maynooth. Over the last 10 to 15 years Kilcock has undergone very extensive and development particularly in housing. While these changes have taken place the race route has almost remained untouched by this. There were around 500 finishers of the race. The race was organised last year (2021) within the permitted public health guidelines of the COVID-19 pandemic response. This seen a maximum entry of 200 runners. It is a great relief to all involved that this road race has returned to the normality of the past.

The members of St. Coca's AC and the many volunteers from the local community must be given great praise for organising another fantastic night of racing for runners, joggers, and walkers. The 5KM course is very flat with the exception of short incline up a motorway overpass and makes its way along narrow country lanes sheltered on either side by hedgerows. These roads offer a great contrast from the urban population of Kilcock which has grown as a satellite town of the greater Dublin area.

The warm summer evening made for an enjoyable night for everyone with a large crowd gathering at the finish to cheer on participants. Refreshments and prize awards were held in the Gaelscoil near to both the race start and close to the St. Coca's running track. Running clubs and groups from all over Leinster and beyond were represented in the race tonight.

Douglas, exemplo”.

Tirei a foto e a mostrei.

Story Points & Foreseeable Project Velocity

We plan and estimate capacity according to story points. Tales are small units that describe an element from the user perspective. software development company assign values to every story utilizing a points system that measures its complexity the greater complex the storyline is, the greater story points it's given.

A03A0951

Squad capacity can also be defined in story points. Quite simply, we all know a squad has no more than, for instance, 25 story points per sprint. This judgement is dependant on yesteryear projects we’ve done which have permitted us to find out a regular quantity of story points we’ve had the ability to cope with in sprints from prior projects. This technique enables us to more precisely estimate time it will require to accomplish work and keep project velocity.

Quality Assurance

Quality assurance serves the straightforward purpose of keeping bugs from the final product. QA at Clearbridge is integrated with development through the project lifecycle, which will help reduce delays and bottlenecks and helps to ensure that defects are remedied because they are discovered.

We use a mix of testing practices including mix-developer verification (code reviews and unit testing) and also have a dedicated product team that handles client verification. Furthermore, software development company make use of a continuous integration system that compiles projects, checks for errors, and distributes the application towards the product team for testing.

Delivery

Once the application is able to be printed, we handle the submission tactic to the right application stores. For iOS particularly, it is really an important yet overlooked phase that lots of don’t look into project timelines, but certainly should. If done incorrectly, getting your application recognized towards the Application Store can require per week, in some instances longer when the submission is rejected.

A03A0934 (1)

At Clearbridge, there exists a product release manager that assembles all of the assets, optimizes your application listing, and completes the submission process based on the guidelines from the application store being posted to.

Ultimately, searching at the mobile project past the scope of development is essential to making a much better, more effective product. While from the technical and style perspective, it must be seem, software development company also wise to require a corresponding mobile strategy, a obvious value proposition, an awareness of the users, along with a process for testing and delivery. Using this holistic approach is what is the main difference between failure and success within the highly competitive application ecosystem.

Roebling, Union, & N 10th street in Williamsburg Brooklyn, 11211 is a stalled development site. 3+ years ago the developer was permitted by the Department of Transportation of NYC in accordance with NYC Department of Buildings to secure the site with a corrugated steel fence that overlaps the sidewalk. People have to walk in the street for portions of this thoroughfare. As many stalled development sites as there are in Williamsburg, certain sites should be on a very short list for more acute attention btw inter city agencies. Not all stalled sites put public safety at such an exponentially increased risk. Until they have encroached into DOT territory can they be managed to a point to remediate the risk to near neutral for anyone walking, or riding by.

The problem is that work from DOT= spend money. But, since the DoB= make money, I think someone should get on it.

There's no incentive for any agency to do anything unless our paid public officials demand that this be a priority. It is a big public safety issue. Factor in the increased vehicle usage of those particular Avenues, post the one way Kent ave change. We are talking about Union Avenue and Roebling Street! Both are truck routes and speedways. Williamsburg/Greenpoint are the only neighborhoods in the 5 boroughs without a designated truck thru-route, as per the DOT map. We get so much needless truck traffic, on what are now purely residential streets.

mc

All-For those of who walk to the L on Roebling, you've likely noticed the blocked off sidewalk on the south side of the street between North 9 and North 10. For at least two years, a construction fence has enclosed the sidewalk at this location. It presents an especially unsafe condition when there are trucks loading and blocking the sidewalk at the feather warehouse across the street. Pedestrians are forced to walk in the street to pass this block. From what I can tell, there seems to be no movement to develop the lot in question, so I am unclear how long this unsafe condition will exist or why it was created in the first place. I inquired about this to our council member Steven Levin, and was informed by his community liaison that I (and many others) should file complaints to 311.* That's where you come into play.

Filing a complaint to 311 takes about three minutes and can be achieved online (which is simpler than calling, in my opinion). Here are the steps:

Go to 311 online. nyc.gov/apps/311/allServices.htm?request Type=service&... there you can select “sidewalk blocked by construction” and insert (or modify) the following description: “a construction fence has enclosed more than half the sidewalk on Roebling. It is impossible to walk on this side of the street without walking in the street. There is a warehouse and loading dock opposite the site on Roebling, and large trucks often block the sidewalk. It is impossible to walk on this section of Roebling without entering the busy street. It's very unsafe.”

The site address is 236 North 10th Street.

From there you record your name (which is not required) and your email address.

The most important detail is to keep track of your service request number. Please send it to me, and I will share it with Levin's staff. The more complaints they receive, the more likely they are to address the unsafe condition.

If possible, please do so in the next few days because I plan to follow up with Levin next week.

Thanks.

Note: please send your 311 complaint # to meredithchesney1@mac.com

and I will send them on to people working on the issue.

================================

In response to the Congressional budget debacle which proved that DC is but a colony -- prone to being singled out unlike any other city in the country -- a number of activists, elected officials, and general citizens came out in force upon the grounds of Capitol Hill.

The crowd first formed on the sidewalk, but after some opening remarks by elected officials and activists: they quickly spilled into the street. The Capitol Police had been on hand & I'd thought it amusing that a couple were taking photos & videos... it wasn't until I saw the wristbands come out when I realised these weren't officers enjoying the moment; they were recording evidence.

With many minutes of warning, large portions of the group shifted over the sidewalk; whilst a core of dedicated supporters -- including our Mayor, a number of councilmembers, and members of DC Vote -- remained behind to block the roadway. The officers began to surround the group & repeated their warnings to get back on the sidewalk or face arrest.

Now in all fairness to the Capitol Police: they were doing their job. They were quite courteous about it & the protest was similarly jubilant right back. One woman was first to be bound, soon followed by several other activists. Then came Muriel Bowser: first councilmember to be arrested.

In general, I tend to dislike political grandstanding... but this was different. If our council was being arrested by our own police, I'd think it a cheesy photo op... but now our locally-elected officials were being arrested by the very forces we were out to protest: the Feds. This wasn't a mere photo op arrest; this was actually a legitimate arrest... the kind of thing that goes on your record; the kind of thing you spent a night in jail for.

Now granted, I don't expect anyone will be in jail longer than tomorrow; I'd be surprised if any were still locked up by midnight tonight. But it was Councilmember Bowser's arrest which really hit a moment... you could see the look on her face was of some worried concern: someone who had never been arrested before & didn't show up here today expecting to be arrested. As she was placed into the police van: her look of concern changed to a bit more worry. I mean this as no knock against Councilmember Bowser's committment; rather I felt it really help to humanise the entire event. It made me respect her all the more.

Yvette Alexander stood right beside us for quite some time, complicated in that she didn't have her ID on her. While it was entertaining to see our top officials being frisked, it was also quite entertaining that our easily-recognisable councilmember needed her ID... prompting a standerby to call one of her staffers with the best introduction I've ever heard over a phone: "Hi, your councilmember has been arrested." Also, kudos to Councilmember Alexander for going to jail in high heels!

There is a lot I can complain about with the council in general; and certainly with individual councilmembers & even the mayor. Heck, that's what politicians are for: you're not supposed to always like them. But this was an opportunity to set aside some of those issues (frankly, I'd say DC was glad to have a unifying moment after the past couple weeks) and cheer on our own brothers & sisters as they stood up in support of our rights.

It was certainly a proud moment to be a DC resident and a fine boost to our collective esteem after several weeks of turmoil within our local & federal levels of government. It's aggravating that my support for small & local government is inhibited by those in Congress whom advocate small & local government. If I wanted to live in a colony, I'd have moved to Williamsburg.

Catch & Release

Several members of the eastern and southern contingent of my extended family converged in Indialantic, Florida to celebrate the Christmas holidays in December 2014 — and these photos illustrate one of the more unusual activities of the gathering.

One of my nephews, Matt Adcock, is a world-famous wedding photographer — and is not only a much better photographer than I could ever dream of being, but is also much more of a gadget freak than I will ever be. For the past year, one of his main passions has been “drone photography” — mostly consisting of GoPro cameras mounted on a small drone that he can manipulate and navigate from the ground, as it flies around taking videos and still shots of things on the ground.

Matt persuaded my grandniece to dance around in my sister’s back yard, with a setting sun and the Indian River in the background — as his drone danced around, too, following her every move. It was hypnotic to watch … and a little spooky, too, to see how the technology worked…

Included in this set are a few photos of the drone-dancing activities. Matt would have taken infinitely better photos than I did, and I found it difficult to balance the shadows, the backlighting of the setting sun, and the motion of both people and the drone dancing around … but hopefully, it will be enough to give you a sense of what it was like...

I have arrived at my 50th Stranger! Coby and Keith, two of the sweetest guys I have met in such along time. I'm not going to use the words graffiti or tagging here because that is not what they were doing. At Venice Beach, CA, there is an area that you can create your work of art as long as you get a permit from the parks & rec dept., it is free, and you do it on the weekends only. So your artwork stays up for a short time to be displayed to thousands that pass by. I was intrigued by watching these guys from a far and then approached to chat with them. I found out that they drove approximately 2 hours from their home to do this where it is legal. They had a bag of spray cans, about $60 dollars worth that they use until the last drop and take about 6-8 hours to finish their masterpiece. I really was in awe that these guys drove this far (not the first time) to express themselves where it is legal and not destructive. I sure do give them the props and a great shout out to their parents.I'm not actually sure what their final artwork looked like because they had hours to go. Thanks guys, it was a lot of fun.

Demolition permit approved. The bridge was not maintained after the line to Koroit and Port Fairy closed in the 1970's. Heritage Victoria have approved its demolition.

After waiting for some three hours for the service to end, we were able to sneak in through a side entrance and after paying the £3 fee for a photographer's permit, I began snapping.

Ripon Cathedral is a seat of the Bishop of Leeds and one of three co-equal mother churches of the Diocese of Leeds, situated in the small North Yorkshire city of Ripon, England. The cathedral has Grade I listed building status.

There has been a stone church on the site since 672 when Saint Wilfrid replaced the previous timber church of the monastery at Ripon (a daughter house of Aiden's monastery at Melrose) with one in the Roman style. This is one of the earliest stone buildings erected in the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria. The crypt dates from this period.

People have been coming to worship and pray at Ripon for more than 1,350 years. The Cathedral building itself is part of this continuing act of worship, begun in the 7th century when Saint Wilfrid built one of England's first stone churches on this site, and still renewed every day. Within the nave and choir, you can see the evidence of 800 years in which master craftsmen have expressed their faith in wood and stone.

Today's church is the fourth to have stood on this site. Saint Wilfrid brought stonemasons, plasterers and glaziers from France and Italy to build his great basilica in AD 672. A contemporary account by Eddius Stephanus tells us:

"In Ripon, Saint Wilfrid built and completed from the foundations to the roof a church of dressed stone, supported by various columns and side-aisles to a great height and many windows, arched vaults and a winding cloister."

Saint Wilfrid was buried in this church near the high altar. Devastated by the English king in AD 948 as a warning to the Archbishop of York, only the crypt of Wilfrid's church survived but today this tiny 7th-century chapel rests complete beneath the later grandeur of Archbishop Roger de Pont l’Evêque’s 12th century minster. A second minster soon arose at Ripon, but it too perished – this time in 1069 at the hands of William the Conqueror. Thomas of Bayeux, first Norman Archbishop of York, then instigated the construction of a third church, traces of which were incorporated into the later chapter house of Roger's minster.

The Early English west front was added in 1220, its twin towers originally crowned with wooden spires and lead. Major rebuilding had to be postponed due to the outbreak of the Wars of the Roses but resumed after the accession of Henry VII and the restoration of peace in 1485. The nave was widened and the central tower partially rebuilt. The church's thirty five misericords were carved between 1489 and 1494. It is worth noting that the same (Ripon) school of carvers also carved the misericords at Beverley Minster and Manchester Cathedral. But in 1547, before this work was finished, Edward VI dissolved Ripon's college of canons. All revenues were appropriated by the Crown and the tower never received its last Perpendicular arches. It was not until 1604 that James I issued his Charter of Restoration.

The minster finally became a cathedral (the church where the Bishop has his cathedra or throne) in 1836, the focal point of the newly created Anglican Diocese of Ripon — the first to be established since the Reformation.

Outside, there was a light drizzle falling, that soon had us both damp, but we decide that if we follow the river at the bottom of the lower road, it should take us into the city centre. We pass rows of wonderful, well built houses, sport grounds, pubs and shops. It’s not unpleasant.

As we near the centre, I spy a barber, and they were open, with only a couple of people waiting, so I could have this bearskin on me heed mangled. I checked that no appointments were needed, Jools went out to find a bank as I waited. I felt a stone lighter, and ten degrees cooler with the mangling done. Well worth eleven of anyone’s pounds.

We walk into the centre, and up cobbled alleys to the cathedral, only to find a service about to begin. They are nice and tell us it will be open in a couple of hour’s time. We walk back along a cobbled alley and go into a tea room for coffee. And a scone, and only two hours since breakfast. It seems this relaxing business creates healthy appetites.

Down the hill to where we hope the canal would be, it took some finding, but this is because the canal ends at a wharf, and is now a quiet cul-de-sac, home to folks living the quiet life on their narrow boats. Sounds ideal to me. We sit on a bench, as the rain had now stopped, and the sun was burning off the clouds. In front of us, a guy was in the stern of his boat, doing a crossword, watching the world go by. He says good morning to us, but returns to 15 down.

I walk along the canal to get some more shots, then we both walk back to a pub we had seen, The Navigation, for a swifter and something to give us strength.

Back over the river, up the cobbled street to the front of the cathedral, where the bishop is being sung to by others in colourful robes. It all looks and sounds wonderful, and once the singing ends, the congregation files out and lingers in the courtyard, all in the finest clothes, chatting and smiling.

All very well, but when can we get into the cathedral?

We decide to walk through one of the side doors, and that seems to be fine, I pay three quid so I can take photos. And anyway, the cathedral is now fast emptying, so I can go and get my shots, which all seem to come out very well.
