based on orthogonal grids the southern part of Masaka manages to give the impression of a costal resort mainly on behalf ot the main north south roads all being set up with a two lane design and a large green ile on each, the alley and streets going east west lack that green. this latter vary in size from that semi privat space on the right of this frame to real street width

On the day of (well, day after) Peter Falk's death I've brought back the swatches. Tsunami's and uprising's weren't deemed newsworthy enough or something, but this is. So here's 5 peripheral abstractions from the images chosen to illustrate the news story.

The peripheral lip of the oil slinger has become filled with sludge. Slinger fits against web of crankshaft, centrifugal force fills it with oil, most of which is slung around the crankcase, with some being forced into the small hole shown in end of crankpin. Photo by Bernd Kuepper.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STRATEGIC STUDIES (IISS) ASIA SECURITY SUMMIT 2014
The 13th IISS Asia Security Summit will be held in Singapore from Friday, 30 May 2014 to Sunday, 1 June 2014 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.
Police will be conducting road blocks and security checks at Shangri-La Hotel and the surrounding vicinity during this period. Motorists are advised to avoid the surrounding roads of Shangri-La Hotel, especially Anderson Road and Orange Grove Road, and to plan their journey early as traffic is expected to be slow moving.
Motorists are advised to use Scotts Road if they are proceeding to:
Stevens Road from Tanglin Road; or
Orchard Road from Stevens Road; or
Balmoral Road.
To facilitate security arrangements for the event, entry of commercial vehicles (with vehicle registration plates starting with “G, W, X and Y”) into Anderson Road will be restricted. Commercial vehicles proceeding to Shangri-La Hotel are advised to use Ardmore Park via Draycott Drive or Draycott Park.
Vehicular traffic along Ardmore Park in the direction of Draycott Drive (between Anderson Road and Ardmore II Condominium) shall be reversed, from Thursday, 29 May 2014, 8.00 pm to Sunday, 1 June 2014, 8.00 pm. Vehicles will not be allowed to turn into Ardmore Park from Anderson Road. Motorists going to Ardmore Park are advised to use Draycott Park or Draycott Drive instead.
As parking facilities within Shangri-La Hotel will be limited, hotel visitors are advised to car pool or take public transport. Parking restrictions along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking indiscriminately and/or causing obstruction will be towed away.
Public understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

The only peripheral supplied as standard was the little numeric keypad shown here. The cable ends in a 7 pin DIN plug, the signals are roughly 2 for power and a 5 bit code to indicate which key is pressed,
The keyboard signals go to an SAB3012 chip on the logic board which then sends a serial bitstream to the remote control signal interface of the SAA5070. I am not conviced this is the simplest way to do it.

A peripheral streak image of a Russian doll rotated 360°. Time is on the horizontal axis - a photo was taken every 30 secs for 2 hours, which equals a rotation of 1.5° per shot for my turntable. The central 1 pixel vertical column was then copied from each photo and stacked left-to-right in a new document to form the streak image.
Copy and pasted to make the image wider (effective view of 720°).

All the streets outside the Grand Bazaar were packed with shoppers as well. I guess with 17 million people in the region there's an endless supply of people looking for something pretty much all the time. I got a sense that it was much more successful than it could ever be in Montreall where we lack the population and number of tourists.

Leprosy is a chronic, contagious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, a rod-shaped bacterium. The disease is also called Hansen's disease, after a Norwegian doctor, Armauer Hansen, who discovered the bacterium, in 1873.
Leprosy affects the skin, peripheral nerves, mucosa of the upper respiratory tract and the eyes. If left untreated, the disease can cause muscle weakness, disfigurement, permanent nerve damage in the arms and legs and loss of sensation in the body.
