Perhaps I should have titled this, "don't look if you are squeamish." I was surprised and rather grossed out, after uploading shots of a Yellow-shafted Flicker, when I saw this one of the bird seeming to savor the grub it was about to swallow.
As the weather turns warmer, the troop decided to do a seafood grill out on the water. Perhaps not surprising, I decided to tease Adi with my freshly caught lobsters. Andie, on the other hand, was well impressed by Pengu's wet slippery thing in his hands.
Pengy decided here to be the chef o'day - watching over the paella on the grill.

Perhaps it does have a name, but it's not named on Google Maps. I found it while driving out in the country in Connecticut. I was happy to make a quick stop to explore and phtograph this little peice of nature right off the road!
Perhaps it is a walk through scenes like this that really does help to build whatever that is! Stay safe.
Perhaps a bit early but... I just felt like winter today :-)

The Dynjandi waterfall, one of the most spectacular ones in Iceland we think.
We were lucky to get our shots with just enough light: around midnight in early May... ;-)

Perhaps the landscape would look more beautiful without the power poles, the wind turbines and the motorway.

La dura vita della volpe in inverno.
Angelo Branduardi
l'aria annusando indecisa,
si è ritratta poi tremando un po'
di paura
Perhaps it is true that any past time was better.
In my photography classes I always say that we cannot photograph far from our state of mind. What do you think about it?

Perhaps the most beautiful Italian city, with a wonderful pedestrian historical center, and beautiful reflections on the river Arno!!
It was another spectacular day at Artist Point. We hiked around Table Mountain, enjoyed the sun, rediscovered some mountain lakes and then stopped by Picture Lake for a Night Cap. This is Mt. Shuksan reflected in Picture Lake near Mt. Baker Ski Area. Perhaps I will rename my flickr page to, "Photos of Mt. Shuksan".
Perhaps the Butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness and still become something beautiful.

-Charles Bukowski
Perhaps the oldest settlement in Brazil, since the exploratory expedition of Gaspar de Lemos and Américo Vespúcio arrived at the place on January 24, 1502, which left a Portuguese exile Cosme Fernandes, known as Bacharel de Cananéia, who became a powerful figure in the region, coming to own many slaves and not paying allegiance to the Portuguese crown. Years later, in 1531, Portugal sent another expedition, under the command of Martim Afonso de Sousa, who arrived in the community of Cananéia, this date being considered the foundation of the village.
This facade seems to be a remnant of the early 18th century, a house built with stone and clay and lime mortar and waterproofed with whale oil.

The spectacularly bizarre Andean Cock-of-the-rock is perhaps the most popularly recognized bird of the cloud forests of the Andes Mountains.
Distributed from Venezuela to Bolivia in the Andes, this species is readily identified by its fan-shaped crest and brilliant orange plumage. Males spend much of their time displaying at leks, where they jump up and down on particular branches and utter low, guttural croaks. The name is derived from their preference for rocks and ledges as substrates for their mud cup nests.

Perhaps. Spent too long in frog’s view; not great for the L5/S1 ;) Must find my hot pad.
Thanks for looking, for your faves, and for your comments.

With all the processing options available today, it seems we become programmed to look at photos and immediately analyze what might be done to tweak them to make them better in some way. I recall when I first began photography 8 or so years ago, I knew nothing about anything and thus deleted at least 90% of my photos upon review, often all of them. Now, even though I still don't know much, I delete none on the basis of being possibly able to do something with them. Sometimes I do with pleasing results. Most of the time I do not and they remain buried in the archives where they will probably never do more than take up space.
When this view of the far north end of the lake (where the turtles bask in the spring and summer but have now already vanished into their hibernational haunts) appeared, now habitual thinking said, "what does this need?" I thought for a while and finally determined that there was really nothing I could do to make this photo better. Different maybe, but not better. Perhaps you agree.
So here you have it...an actual unenhanced SOOC snap shot of my beloved northwoods entering prime time for color. Maybe not too artsy...but still kind of pretty...;-))
A few weeks back, I was in Niagara on the Lake. I was shooting a few windows but I did like this shot.
Happy Window Wednesday
I spent perhaps 6-8 minutes with this displaying male who, like the one seen in the spring, was totally into himself and unskittish, and I kept my distance with a long lens. When there are no females around, these males almost make you think that having a photographer watching their puffery is better than nothing.
As I photographed him, I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye - and sensed - that there was some movement in the tree line 4 feet from my side. I took a number of short quick glances periodically but saw nothing and wondered whether I was imagining things because of the windiness.
However, after stopping shooting, I took a hard look to see whether there were some female grouse further back in the tree line. There were not, but something else was looking me in the eye further back. See 2 of 2 posted to the right.
It's unpredictable. When your mind crosses a certain line. You're unable to breathe even when there is abundant air around you. There is just one thought in your mind and you must fulfill it. That is when all the energy of the universe aspires to push you, encourage you, make you believe that this is your desire and yours alone that has to be done this instant. Nothing else rules your being and your feet are no longer yours when you rush out, chasing it, not allowing anything to stop you.
Dodging the fear, the uncertainty, all the lies and hatred that was disguised in kindness. All the care with hidden agendas and most especially all those promises coated in loneliness. Leaving behind your aspirations just for the sake of validity. Being silent instead of speaking since it would go unheard anyways. Enough is enough.
And when you reach your destination, an understanding that it's alright to put yourself first. You are allowed to want without judgment. When you have done it. An explosion of worries and failure rise to the surface. Your breath suddenly returns, the feeling of relief washes over your senses. All it takes is a smile as you can rest peacefully for once. And perhaps for awhile...
P.S. There is a rainbow in the windlight itself! Bambi is amazing!

Dreaming perhaps of buzzing fig beetles and butterflies fluttering just out of reach, Tips the cat naps on the front porch railing as the morning sun edges over the mountaintops, and the daytime world comes slowly into focus.

Perhaps the best-known group of Narcissus, many of these large Trumpet Daffodils such as 'King Alfred' have been favorites since Victorian times. Multiplying freely, these terrific naturalizers have a long blooming season. Large flowers, with trumpets as long as or longer than the flower petals.
I think the hummingbird mating dance is just special to witness. I look forward in a few weeks to see the young immatures dancing about the garden and porch.
A male Red Grouse breaks cover while feeding on the moors in North Yorkshire. The Red Grouse is a medium-sized bird which is found in heather moorland in Great Britain and Ireland. The population is declining, perhaps linked to diseases and the loss of heather moorland.
But perhaps even more exciting than the beautiful, if stark, landscape are the vents where you can feel the moist, hot air escaping from the earth itself. Just look across the landscape for a spot of bright green, a fern or a small flowering plant, or maybe some sprouting mushrooms, and you will likely find a vent that is providing the moisture this small plant needs to survive. It is a reminder of how this land is still in the process of active change.
Do I love living in the moment, yes yes.
I think Carpe Diem is my middle name, perhaps I should change my Flickr name?
I was sunsetchasing today too, it's so fun when you see the colors change by the minute.
Yep, EvaThrilled it was.
I thought perhaps I was alone in my absolute love of dandelions....yet it seems that throughout history other people have had tender feelings for them, too. Long ago dandelions were called Fairy Clocks, as their flowers opened and closed predictably. Some people said that a dandelion could be used as a tool for divination. If you blew a seed head, the number of seeds remaining would be the number of children you will have. More facts can be found at www.thepracticalherbalist.
Perhaps not one to get the twitchers too excited, but always nice to see in the garden.
October 2021
Thorn, Ash and Oak are their favorite trees
So perhaps you could circle the boughs with these:
Some Foxgloves for thimbles, some Thyme for a treat
Bluebells for their magic and logs for a seat!
Plant Primrose and eat them if you dare by the day
and it is said by the evening you'll glance a few Fey!
Believe in the fairies who make dreams come true.
Believe in the magic from the fairies above,
They dance in the flowers and sing songs of love.
And if you believe and always stay true,
The fairies will be there to watch over you.
