2015 Bristol Indiana High School Alumni Dinner, The annual event was held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 in the Rush Memorial Center at the Elkhart County Historical Museum in Bristol, Indiana. It’s often referred to as the BAA or Bristol Alumni Association. The oldest attending member was 103 year old Florence Schieber-Aldrich, Class of 1932, who came with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter. 183 Class members came from as far away as West Coast and Florida. Members of classes from 1932 through 1966 gathered for an opportunity to meet and greet old classmates and enjoy a buffet dinner, complete with dessert pies. The BAA committee who put on and managed the event, encouraged younger members to help them plan future events, as the committee members are growing older.New Museum Manager Kirby Rose attended, along with Collections Director, Liz Fisher. A treat for all was the performance by the Bristol Girls’ Choir who met from 1940s to 1970 at the Bristol United Methodist Church. Just the Facts: The original school was built in 1903 to consolidate and house eight one-room schoolhouses in a single building with additions added over the years. It has been known as the Washington Twp. School, Bristol School & Bristol High School. The last class graduated in 1966, and the school was closed & pupils went to Elkhart High School. The building was bought by Howard Rush & donated to the Elkhart Co. Parks Dept. It is now the Elkhart County Historical Museum.
3 Colours, a mixed media performance event staged for the 4th World Summit on Arts and Culture, September 2009, Johannesburg, South Africa. Concept and Direction by Brett Bailey. Musical Direction by Mapumba Cilombo, Lead Choreography by Gregory Maqoma; Stage Design by Andrew Chandler. In this work about the complexities of interculturalism, Bailey chose to portray different societies/cultures symbolically, as shrines. In his programme notes he writes: "Indefinable as they are, our cultures are sacred to us. At the heart of each glows a unique cluster of precious jewels: our myths and histories, our heritage, our values and social structures, our cosmology and relationship to the Ultimate . . . The energy of these clusters is expressed by and enshrined in the forms of cultural expression distinctive to each people . . . So many varied manifestations. Forever unfurling, forever evolving."

eine der ideen der netzkunst war und ist die loslösung des autors vom werk. durch die quasi-anonyme struktur des frühen netzes war es problemlos möglich die eigenen arbeiten zu publizieren ohne jemals selber als person in erscheinung zu treten. die nutzung von pseudonymen - historisch gewachsen aus der kultur der hacker - gehörte durchaus zum guten ton. die dadurch ermöglichte überwindung des egos gehört(e) mit zu einer der utopischen versprechen der frühen netzkunst.
doch netz und damit natürlich auch die kunst, welche sich damit beschäftigt, hat sich gewandelt. das internet ist massenmedium und damit teil des öffentlichen raumes geworden. mit dem wandel des netzes, verändert(e) sich auch dessen nutzung. die anonymität verschwindet. dies geschieht teils aufgrund der veränderten nutzung, teils durch staatliche und privatwirtschaftlich initiierte kontrollmechanismen.
die inszenierung der eigenen persönlichkeit ist zu einer wichtigen triebkraft im netz geworden, ein phänomen welches aus der kunstwelt nur zu gut bekannt ist.
When we first walked by, I thought something was developmentally different about this guy. His posture was so awkward, the music sounded off, and his movements shuffled the piano slowly around the atrium as the crowd shifted and moved out of the way. However, I found the performance a bit more fascinating and less awkward after I read the brochure description.

"For the ninth installment of the Performance Exhibition Series, the artists Jennifer Allora (b. 1974) and Guillermo Calzadilla (b. 1971) present Stop, Repair, Prepare: Variations on Ode to Joy for a Prepared Piano (2008). For this piece, the artists carved a hole in the center of a grand piano, through which a pianist plays the famous Fourth Movement of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, usually referred to as “Ode to Joy.” The performer leans over the keyboard and plays upside down and backwards, while moving with the piano across the vast atrium. The result is a structurally incomplete version of the ode—the hole in the piano renders two octaves inoperative—that fundamentally transforms both the player/instrument dynamic and the signature melody, underlining the contradictions and ambiguities of a song that has long been invoked as a symbol of humanist values and national pride."

Photos from the Rehearsal Performance of the Ann Arbor Dance Classics Benefit Show at the Saline High School on Saturday March 18th, 2023 (for the performance on Sunday the 19th). The show was called "Work of Art" - the 2022 Benefit Concert and Competition Showcase to benefit the Peace Neighborhood Center. The show also featured a performance from the University of Michigan First-Year Dance Company.

Una performance es un acto impredecible, inmediato y pasional, los espectadores no sabemos qué ocurrirá precisamente. Esto es lo que hace la artista nacional Janet Toro. El existencialismo social y político llega a los espacios exteriores del Museo con su último trabajo titulado “In-Situ”, una serie de cinco performance e instalaciones, que indagan sobre los Derechos Humanos en lo contemporáneo.
Nemeln significa “palabra” en mapudungun. La artista abordará la importancia de la palabra, en la identidad cultural Mapuche, así como construye y conserva el relato histórico de la memoria. Esta performance es una indagación acerca de la ausencia de la palabra.
