Enjoyed some time on Amston Lake from the Lebanon, CT side. Long time since I have been on that side. It was a balmy 28 degrees.

Another great sunset above the Isle of Arran, shot from Stevenston beach, North Ayrshire, September 2010.

Been waiting for the right sunset to shoot this tree

These nine shots are a sequence of sunset shots from one of our nights on Anna Maria Island a few weeks ago. Hope you like them! It was one of a few nights where there were not too many clouds out.

The sun had just passed the immediate clouds and was passing behind the horizon stuff, way beyond the 26 mile horizon.

Sunset from Elgol on Skye.

Looking out to the Islands of Soay and beyond.

Best sunsets are on the west coast of Scotland.

Two Islands showing (Including Soay).

Taken at Extabi, on the the West End Road, Negril.

Extabi means - The Meeting Place of the Gods.

Panoramic colourful sunset from the rooftop of my house.

Sunrise Rhode Island 3/18/2008 view of East Bay across from Narragansett Bay

Eventually got the chance and the right conditions for this shot. This time of year is the only chance for this shot as the setting sun is in the right position.

Sunset taken from the top of Carn Brea, Redruth on 3rd September 2007.

One of the days after the storm passed (Nov 2010). Seas were high, wind was blowing the palms, and for a few seconds only, the sun appeared, to say goodbye to the day.

🌅 Sunsets at Garry Point Park are nothing short of magical—many locals consider it the best place in Richmond to watch the day melt into the Salish Sea.

🌇 Why It’s So Special

- Unobstructed Western Views: The park sits at the southwestern tip of Richmond, offering panoramic vistas across the water toward Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

- Golden Hour Glow: The wide-open sky and reflective shoreline create a canvas for brilliant oranges, purples, and fiery reds—especially in summer and early fall.

- Natural Seating: Driftwood logs and grassy knolls make for perfect sunset perches.

- Kite Silhouettes: The park’s breezy conditions often mean colorful kites dancing across the sky as the sun dips low.

Best Sunset Spots

- Head to the southwestern edge of the park near the Fishermen’s Memorial Needle for the most dramatic views.

- The West Dyke Trail, which connects Garry Point to Terra Nova Park, offers a 6 km shoreline stroll that lets you follow the sunset as it unfolds.

🍦 Sunset Pairings

- Grab fish and chips from Pajo’s or a scoop of pistachio gelato from Timothy’s in nearby Steveston Village—just a short walk away.

Garry Point sunsets are a soul-soothing experience.

Thank you for your visit and any faves or comments are always greatly appreciated!

A view of Tinto, a hill in the Southern Uplands, in South Lanarkshire. Not the biggest in Scotland, but as it lies to the North of the Uplands, it is the one most viewed by the residents of South Lanarkshire.
