panoramic view of Zagreb before the storm - Zagrebačka katedrala (Zagreb Cathedral), Crkva sv. Marije (Church of St. Mary)
I was pleased with the settings I used for the wedding shoot. For all of the photos I used centre weight mettering, this enabled me to get the details of the brides dress and for focus I set for continuous back button focus. White balance auto, and auto ISO up to a max of 4000 (the d500 has high usable ISO into the 12000+ mark) for the speed flash I used mostly TTL metering with a defuser, this gave me fewer shadows and allowed the light from outside to become part of the photograph.
Would you take a chance? All I remember from that day is dark, foreboding clouds hanging low in the sky, threatening to unleash their fury at any moment. The sun was slowly descending towards the horizon when the rain started to fall! That warm and intense glow across the sky made me stick around for a little bit longer. What do you think?
A very wet start to the day at the Quiraing 1 of 3 shots taken before the heavens opened (again) and we had to shelter from the rain in a nearby rock shelter, the lone tree overlooking the Trottenish ridge from the quiraing.

We moved into a house with a spare bedroom, and Moose likes the way the sun comes in it in the evening for naps :)
What a perfect setting. This Barred Owl flew through the dense forest and landed on a branch just on the edge of where the sunlight was coming in.
Some bracken growing over a wall, I've altered the contrast on this to make the bracken stand out more.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)
TGIF Right? We had quite an interesting weather this past week. These are few frames from the storm developing over the Lake Michigan last Friday night. I was aiming to get few cityscape images when I notice that this scene is developing over the lake behind me. I managed to get there just in time to capture it. What do you think?
we search for beauty in grand landscapes and exotic places. we wait for spectacular sunsets and dramatic storms. but sometimes, perfection is quieter. it is the way the afternoon light hits the surface of a shallow puddle. it is the perfect, temporary mirror that holds the image of a common bird. it is the grace in a single, lifted foot. it is a simple, flawless moment that reminds us that the extraordinary is often hidden in the heart of the ordinary.
Sono solo un paio di alberi ed una strada...
però la qualità e l'intensità della luce sono quelle giuste, e tutto sembra combaciare nella composizione.

Crowsnest at Beauvais PP, the fires to the west made for a great sunset. Crowsnest mountain and the 7 sisters spires, setting sun reflecting off the cabins and docks of the lake.

After so many desert pictures in the recent days I wanted to post something green and while going through my old shots from 2014 I came across this beauty which was taken at Trillium Lake in Oregon just after sunrise. The view of Mt Hood from this location is spectacular especially in the mornings with misty Lake Trillium in the foreground.
I had noticed these three rocks in the lake while we were scouting the location and wanted to use it so badly in a shot. Took this one pretty late during sunrise and the light was coming in strong over the mountain. Hope you all like it happy Friday..
