American Kestrel on a stick, Falco sparverius

A captured this image of a male Kestrel perched and scanning the ground for prey at RSPB St. Aiden's, West Yorkshire, England.

 

There are several little ponds in the valley referred to as "perch ponds". This one connects to another one with a culvert under a road blocked by these sunken livestock fences. Happy Fence Friday.

One of the reasons why it's not easy to take photos of Leo (apart from the fact that he is shy and hates the camera) is that he moves constantly when he is outside on the roof terrace. On Sunday evening there was a short moment when he sat still next to the small ginkgo tree, though, and luckily he was distracted which allowed me to snap this shot. :)

A Double-crested Cormorant relaxes on a perch just above the water.

This blue color was great to see in the drab winter palette.
