Here's another shot of our local Sharp-shinned Hawk ( Accipiter striatus) perched in the neighbours Norway Maple.
Unfortunately the background isn't the greatest, but I take what I can get when shooting in the backyard. The pattern in the back is the neighbours house!
A great pose from this Eastern Phoebe at Huntley Meadows. I love to catch birds on perches where the bokeh effect causes the background to essentially disappear. And no, I didn't swap out the background. This is what was there.
Taken 21 May 2017 at Huntley Meadows Park, Virginia
Before the biblical storm that put on such an incredible display over Merseyside last night there was a half decent sunset at New Brighton.
We had rainbows, a lovely warm sunset with banks of thick storm clouds and the most impressive show of fork lightning we have seen for a number of years.
HSS!
I really like the pose of this bird and also the way only one of its claws are raised on the brach, it looks really intrigued : )
Was out at Jackson Bottom a few weeks ago, and got some nice shots of this perched Savannah Sparrow.
This was my last capture of the eagles today before I left the Susquehanna River in Maryland. This eagle pulled the fish from the river and then came right over my head where I was standing along the rocks at the river edge. A good way to end the 6 hours spent watching and photographing the eagles fishing and chasing each other about.
The Common Gallinule (Gallinula chloropus) measures 13 inches (33 cm) from beak-tip to tail-tip. Though I feel it is a little-appreciated bird, it is quite beautiful. This fine specimen was found at Circle B Bar Reserve, a wetland reserve near Lakeland, Florida.
Difficult evening to get a decent shot, i know as far as compositions go it doesn't abide by the rules, but the colour and ambient light gives the image a bit of a kick.

I was excited to see a Calliope hummingbird for the first time. My husband and I found this little guy's perching tree and enjoyed seeing him several times while we were in Grand Teton National Park.
A surprise along a country road while I was looking for something interesting. Was happy to come upon this Bluebird nicely perched on a branch!
I walked by Beaverton Creek today, and found this tree being hit by both the cedar waxwings and the American robins. Had several opportunities in the colorful surroundings.
Golden-headed Cisticola (Cisticola exilis)
Finally the Cisticolas are starting to show themselves around the Sneydes Rd. Paddock, albeit well in to the paddock. I got as close as I could without ending up knee deep in the muddy water.
Wandering Percher (Diplacodes bipunctata)
I spotted this Dragonfly on the Vic Uni Pond. There are so many Dragon/Damselfies around the pond at the moment.
I am way behind so will catch up later this afternoon/evening.
