In life, it's how we see things that determine how we tackle situations and life, in general. Seeing the glass half full (optimism), helps the daily affairs of life move more smoothly, and makes life look bright and promising. Seeing the glass half empty (pessimism) saps our energy, focus and motivation to do the right things in life.

Not by changing their image, but by depicting them close-up, larger than life, and inviting the viewer to question how they see and perceive Pit Bulls."

Understanding population dynamics is critical to avoiding static perceptions of human and environmental vulnerability. Changes that affect the size, distribution, and composition of human populations also affect both the nature of vulnerability and adjustments in natural or human systems in response to environmental change.
‘The Demography of Adaptation to Climate Change,’ a new edited volume from the United Nations Population Fund, International Institute for Environment and Development, and El Colegio de Mexico explores these themes. Three of the book’s contributors share perspectives on the importance of population dynamics for adaptation, ways to use available population and census data in assessing vulnerability and resilience, and the application of these approaches for urban vulnerability and adaptation in Malawi and Indonesia.

This article investigates the significance of receiver’s perception in virtual reality art. With virtual reality technology, artwork became a process rather than a definite object, and perception of receivers could be the process of Art. Finally, the conflict between full body immersion and imagination remains to be mediated in present virtual reality art.

This necklace has a story.
I purchased it when I was a little girl, and back then I thought it was THE prettiest necklace in THE WHOLE WORLD. Really. I thought the totally fake (metal) "stones" surrounding the blue heart were real diamonds and that the blue heart, instead of a cheap plastic novelty, was a real sapphire. I remember being in awe of the necklace when I first saw it.
I recently discovered it again, and, I must admit, I was a bit disappointed to see that it now looks like a cheap novelty to me, instead of the rare, expensive piece of jewelry I perceived it as when I was a little girl.
However, I think the story illustrates how our perceptions change over time, and that beauty really can be in the eye of the beholder. It's a little reminder to be accepting of others' perceptions: you may see the cheap novelty, but they may see the expensive jewelry, and neither perception is "wrong" or "right". Just different, and worth acknowledging, accepting, and trying to understand.
Maybe this necklace is just a cheap, childish novelty. But, to me, because of how it awed me as a little girl, it will always be a treasure.
San Diego Fashion Week 2014 - SS 15 Collection - Alpaca Couture Collection
Welsh designer Antonella Commatteo has teamed up with grass roots rancher, Wade Gease, to create Alpaca Couture, in becoming one of the first alpaca fashion design teams in the United States. There is a strong resurgence of utilizing natural fibers in the fashion industry, and alpaca fleece is emerging towards becoming a front-runner. Alpacas are predominantly found in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile, yet limited quantities of fleece are available in the United States. Alpaca Couture is one of the first to incorporate a percentage of these non-imported fabrics into its stimulating product lines, drawing upon the exceptional natural qualities and durability of the prized alpaca fibers. Alpaca Couture looks to generate demand for alpaca fashion and ultimately change perceptions for its use beyond that of traditional knit wear. Heightening awareness of this natural fiber will support an industry that in turn will actively contribute to the success of collections through further exposure of the use of this animals fleece.
