The man who comes back through the Door in the Wall will never be quite the same as the man who went out. Aldous Huxley - The Doors of Perception.

ACCIDENTS IN THE PERCEPTION OF TIME

"Modes of perception: between channels:

Wordless days, years, periods.

Centuries of drawing with black lead, or burnt sienna on the rock.

Restless scratches. Silhouettes of clumsy figures.

A tangle of lines (animals in motion).

Millennia of the word: winding of words around the body, lashing,

silhouettes of clumsy sentences. Space behind them.

Muting: and a surge of noisy images. Unravel. Span.

Look like you understand.

A hand for joy: draw.

A hand.

A hand: survive, kill.

A mouth for the voice (play, cheat). Open. For someone else.

Like with like (Picasso in the cave). And bridges!

For yourself. For someone else."

A beautiful depiction of Ganesha, remover of obstacles and the lord of new beginnings.

I have mixed feelings about seeing deities and Buddhas in commercial settings such as a garden centres, alongside garden gnomes, dragons and flowerpot people.

But looking beyond to when these figures are in people's homes and gardens and giving them pleasure and maybe inspiring peaceful contemplation and then my mood changes to something more open to compassion.

Love, Light and abiding Peace to all sentient beings.

One 'YORKSHIRE Purple GARLIC' and 'A Mild French' Silverskin Garlic (softneck).

There may be upwards to six-hundred types of garlic being grown world-wide.

Although it may seem a new concept, garlic was in fact introduced to Britain by the Romans and has been a cook’s staple for millennia.

The bulbous vegetable was praised in ancient Sanskrit writings, the Egyptians buried it with their dead and by 1500BC it had spread across the world – it even turned up in the medieval court of Richard II. But by the 19th century, Mrs Beeton was describing it as ‘offensive’ and for most of the 20th century you barely caught a whiff of it in the domestic kitchen.

Cheap flights and package holidays changed our perceptions, and Britain soon rediscovered garlic’s 'pungent' charms, using it in everything from curries to casseroles, stir-fries and soups. Coupled with a renewed thirst for traceable, local produce, British-grown garlic is set to become a great household favourite.

I wish you all the very best and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and faves.

Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

"The best camera is the one that's with you." - Chase Jarvis

Same day, same flowers just a different focus. Thankful for the joy of a beautiful spring day, of seeing the light of the sun on the flowers and the green grass, to see the ripples from the wind on the water and to feel the warmth. Thankful for this gift of a camera that we can capture these moments and share with our friends.

This is arguably my favourite photo of this year so far. When exploring Torndirrup National Park on the south coast of Western Australia, I came across this scene which instantly sent out a "long exposure alert" in my mind. The glow of the fading light illuminated the canal between the rocks, the clouds moved quite fast in the sky and the water shimmered gently right in front of me. There was no dramatic wave action but there was just enough of water moving between the rocks to create a misty effect that I envisioned.

Understanding and managing perception, both our own and that of others, can lead to more effective communication, better relationships, and greater success in various aspects of life.

Movement aberration through a rolling train window.

Happy Fence Friday :)

I see you as you are,

with your subtle flaws...

but your colors, are

oh so beautiful.

And you softly reflect light,

in your uniquely special way...

like mist in a dream, surrounding

a secrete place in your heart.

It can't be seen or touched...

only sensed with an unusual perception,

call it love.

It's the only way you can make yourself know to me,

and each thought is so delicate, and filled with meaning.

How do I begin to convey

the things you've shared with me.

I found this amazing scene on a beautifully still and peaceful day at Wellington Reservoir in Western Australia. Reflections were just like a mirror and I loved the colour theme as well.

A door can symbolize many things in our lives.

It can be something that represents the hope of possibilities;

the promise of new opportunity. It can convey the idea of change or transition. Sometimes it signifies prevention.

We often use the expression, 'when one door closes, another one opens' and it seems to be a truism in life. We think we know exactly what we want to do, or have, but despite our best efforts and how frequently we try to smash our way through, the door remains firmly shut. That's when frustrations can be calmed with the notion that perhaps there's something better ahead than we're presently aware of if we're patient and vigilant.

The phrase, 'the door of opportunity' is another truism and sometimes when we think back on our lives we can see where we successfully took advantage of the moment and the opportunity presented to us. Conversely, one of life's regrets can be the open door we ignored.

"What's it going to take to open the closed door?" We know we need, or want, to get to a certain position but some type of key is required. Many times that becomes a time of emotional, spiritual or intellectual pursuit of an answer to a mystery.

I suppose it's also true that doors can be the stuff of nightmares. What frightening thing is on the other side? But for the mostpart, at least to my way of thinking, a door can be a golden opportunity.

Visual perception is the ability to interpret the surrounding environment by processing information that is contained in visible light. The resulting perception is also known as eyesight, sight, or vision (adjectival form: visual, optical, or ocular). The various physiological components involved in vision are referred to collectively as the visual system, and are the focus of much research in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, and molecular biology.
