When you take a photograph and post it on the internet you are presenting your personal vision, your own way of seeing the world. Everyone's perception is different, sometimes by a few degrees, but at times it can be the polar opposite. I suppose in this way, art mimics life and becomes relevant.
We all have our own angles of vision when looking at the world, be it through a camera lens or the distorted cacophony of the millions of voices on the internet, all claiming to be right and knowing the answers, while damning anybody who argues with them with vitriolic abuse.
We all see things differently but perhaps remembering we are all human and not faceless avatars would make the internet a far better place. A little kindness and understanding wouldn't hurt too much would it?
Suppose I should do some work now ;-)
There is no truth. There’s only perception.
Gustave Flaubert
Non esiste la verità, solo la percezione.
A calmness arises when we are in a quiet place with a sensory subject that brings our mental focus out of hiding and into the here and now.
I have written a short Facebook post that uses this image and the original image as examples of my opinion on artistic photography. It will give you a peek at how much changed in the post processing.

Time for a touch of minimalism. This is a little scene I found at Wellington Reservoir in Western Australia on an overcast day. The dead tree stump poking out of the water caught my attention especially and I decided to take few long exposures to create a subtle moody image.

Turrell has studied both the nature of light and the psychology of perception. At sunrise or sunset in the "Amarna" one participates in an experience that uses light and colour to create a sense of altered space. I mentioned that Turrell was raised a Quaker, whose emphasis on the "Inner Light" is central to everything they do. This belief has never left Turrell. He walks in the Light and uses the light spectrum as a metaphor for what he considers the essence of the Light.
On the top right hand corner of this montage you'll see rows of seats that extend right around the installation. These are just like those found in old Quaker Meeting Houses. In fact the Society of Friends (Quakers) in Hobart use this space from time to time for meetings. A Quaker meeting is held in a silent meditative state, at once individual and corporate. That's Mt Wellington / kunanyi in the background.
Sitting silently and looking up (another metaphorical act) the colours change so gradually that one moves through the entire visible colour spectrum over the next 45 minutes. That rectangular window in the ceiling allows one to look through and see the sky. But even the sky seems to change colour and vibrancy with the changing of the light.

We all have our own perceptions in life and at some point of time we try to convince others to agree to our perception thinking that ours is the only right one.
In this image, a circle shape can be seen from top but it is also a flask-shape when it is viewed from other angle, both shapes are real and both angles are right, it is just a difference of perception.
We should respect each other's perceptions, point-of-views, ideas, suggestions, advises, etc. and should be open to those things for better human relation.
The moment you change your perception, is the moment you rewrite the chemistry of your body. – Dr. Bruce H. Lipton
We found a cute little cafe for our cup of tea, called Changing Perceptions. Some info below, for those who are interested!
Changing Perceptions has quickly evolved from Godalming’s best kept secret to a popular and bustling Café and home interior shop. Located at the very top of the High Street this unique and vibrant social enterprise is just a stone’s throw away from the Meath. Meath clients are supported to up-cycle donated furniture in the on-site workshop which is then put on sale in the shop, with all profit going straight back to the charity. It is a very important part of the Meath’s philosophy to help dispel the stigma associated with epilepsy and to assist all of our clients to live alongside people from all walks of life, sharing similar experiences and hopes and dreams for the future.

"Doors of Perception" - Long exposure sunrise at the beach, North of the Donmouth, Aberdeen, Scotland.
My father took this photo of me on my first birthday and before my first haircut, which made me lose my curls forever.
When someone reads a folded paper, it always looks upside down for other persons. Unfortunately this simple fact is ignored by many people, almost all of them women, and they insist, though they're intelligent persons, that I hold the paper upside down. This can lead and has already lead to very disagreeable discussions. Trying to avoid them, but still amazed by this obviously wrong perception, I have begun to watch women reading newspapers, and I realised: they never hold a newspaper this way while reading. They rather spread it on the table. My mother also does so every day (I'm in my parents' house at the moment), whereas I have kept my father's way of reading a paper.
I found this old Serendipity pose, and its theme of perception seemed to go well with the stunningly revealing new dress from Aleutia that’s available now at The Secret Affair. I’m also showing off the B variant of the new Sangria hair by eXxEsS – I can’t believe how amazing it is!
