The Chicago Botanic Garden located in Glencoe IL is one of my favorite places to photograph. I visit at least once or twice each year – usually in the early morning to beat the crowds and take advantage of the morning light.

The African Penguin (Spheniscus demersus) is also known as the Blackfooted Penguin (and formerly as the Jackass Penguin).
They have a black stripe and black spots on the chest, the spots being unique for every penguin, like human fingerprints. They have pink sweat glands above their eyes. The hotter the penguin gets, the more blood is sent to these sweat glands so it may be cooled by the surrounding air, thus making the glands more pink.
Someone else named this, and I think it is a good name. I actually walked passed it the first time, shot this picture before I realized what it was. There are so many rock formations in this area, and I have only seen a few of them named.
Wished the weather had been better, a lot less wind, and a better sky.

This image was taken at SeaWorlds new Penguin Encounter. It is rally well worth experiencing as you can see them on ice as well as swimming through glass underwater.. I will tell you it is cold as can be while you enjoy this experience...
