It's a tradition for some hardy souls to take a dip in Indian Arm on New Years Day. They race to be the first into the water. (Which is btw, only slightly above freezing. Many years, they have to break up the ice to prevent any injuries). What a way to begin the year!

A zodiac cruise of Fournier Bay on the Antarctic peninsula gave us close up views of humback whales, seals and these Gentoo penguins on a large iceberg.
Merry Christmas! I had the best time making these cookies! Johnna (aka the Polka-dot Zebra) came to my house and we decorated cookies and baked. I had so much! I think we talked more than we decorated:)
I bought the cutter at Michael's and it was supposed to be an elf! I bought it thinking I would use it one day. Who know it would be a great penguin!

I have no explanation for this, but this home in my neighborhood has about a dozen penguins lined up along the top this wall. They showed up at Christmas time and then for Memorial day they all got US flags. The lion has been there for several years and there's a large angel down the wall to the left.

I had a few captions in mind for this shot. Such as: “Look mom! I’m a Penquin! Or “Every mother thinks her children walk on water”, but I decided against it :).

As well as the famous penquins and the Desperate Dan statute Dundee can boast a multitude of figures scattered around, they bring a smile to visitors.
