Noch einige schnelle Skizzen in Lüttich, bevor die großartige Gemeinschaftsausstellung »Urban Sketchers: Vier Tage Lüttich« am Abend des 13.9.2014 im Théâtre de Liège eröffnet wurde.
This is what happens when you finish doing inventory and everybody else is still doing it. Then the computer goes down.
So I wanted to make an easy, light charcoal sketch. I didn't use charcoal in decades! So I got myself crazy! I don't know how many times I smudged it, made mistakes....gosh! And the black background! I could just take a black paper, no!
Well, was fun tho ;)
Freehand drawn, took reference for the pose and light.
Charcoal Cretacolor and Koh-I-noor, Cretacolor Nero extrasoft and brown polychromos for the background on A4 sketch pad

I remember I was relunctant to draw this picture in 1980 because it was done from my wife's award winning black and white photograph and I did not want to be taking credit for Linda's creativity - but it is such a strong image I had to try draw it.
These2 are quitedifficult to capture...as I think they are aware something is going on so very fastand not much detail...

I'm not sure how internationally known Miriam Margolyes is but she's been in some very well known films. I must admit, it's not her films that tempted me to draw her, but the documentaries she's made. Not everyone is a fan, as she can be very outspoken, but I feel she has a big heart and although her questions and opinions can be controversial, she does seem to want to be open-minded and always willing to learn. My favourite programmes are "The Real Marigold Hotel", "Miriam's Big Fat Adventure" and "A New Australian Adventure". The reason I wanted to draw her is because although she admits to being overweight, I think she has a really lovely, cheeky smile!
Miriam Margolyes OBE (born 18 May 1941) is a British-Australian actress. She has gained prominence as a character actor on stage and screen. She received a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role as Mrs Mingott in Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence (1993), and portrayed Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter film series (2002–2011). Margolyes was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2002 New Year Honours for Services to Drama.
